2 DSL connection merged into one ?

Alright I have a question everyone! Now Shukar Allah I have two DSL connections one is a PTCL 512 kbps and the other one is a 128 kbps NTC connection and my question is can I merge these two connections into a single one to create one faster DSL connection . ( Most probably the answer would be no ) So anyways can anyone give me suggestions of what I should do with my 128 kbps connection now ?

Well i dont know for sure.. but i know a guy who has 2 2mb connections.. and he has merged them by using a router or a switch.. i am not sure how exactly but he has..

it isn't possible through software, u need hardware for it , infact i have a brother who started making similar to wat ur asking for and hopefully it'll be ready in a month and right now i dont think its possible to do that but thats just my current knowledge and i stay pretty out of date on things like these

This is not possible, you can merge two connections using a special type of router which is known as "load balancing" router, still you won't get what you are asking for i-e 512+128=640Kbps bandwidth. What this router do is just distribute the load on the individual connections! for example if one connection is down then you can use the other one seamlessly or if you are downloading a large file from 512Kbps then you can still browse the sites using 128Kbps.

But the thing is that these routers are not for home users nor then come cheap! and their configuration is not as easy as your normal home DSL/wireless routers.

i just wanted to add that the load balacing doesnt work on a single pc , they only work when u have more then 1 computer and if u have 2 connections and 10 computers it will distribute accordingly

anything for merging 2 connections on 1 computer isn't possible...........yet..

i have good news for you... u can merge those two connections irrespective of bandwidth

Go to Control Panel > Network connections > select your two connections > Bridge Connections

computer 1 ----------> computer 2 <----------- computer 3

if computer 2 has 2 lan cards, u can attach both connections to computer 2 and bridge them and so computer 3 can access computer 1

bad news I only have 1 lan card SO I guess I will just use the 512 one now and if its down then the 128 one

get another lan card then u can use both connections separately download with 512 kbps and browse with 128 one

that also depends if bother modems have ethernet cables, most of the micronet usb modems u have to connect urself through computer while most of the ethernet modems stay connected even while ur computer is turned off

i suggest u upgrade one of ur connections to 1mb or if u have 2 computers u can give 1 connection to each of them
