If MS buys Sega, they will get some of the most valuable Japanese franchises under their belt.

Yakuza, Persona, fucking SONIC !!
Not sure how relevant Sonic is in this age. Persona and Yakuza however would be HUGE. They have cult like following in Japan and that is the territory where MS has always struggled to win customers for their hardware. But it would definitely be a huge huge setback for Sony, imo even bigger than that of Bethesda.

Yeah I agree. Persona and Yakuza started on Playstation consoles and are closely associated with the platform. It'll be a huge blow to Sony if they're no longer released there. Sony had the opportunity to acquire Atlus back when it was in the midst of a financial crisis. They likely didn't see it as important at the time and Sega acquired it instead. I'm sure they regret it now.

Wolfenstein, Dishonored, and Prey collections rated for Xbox Series X

More Bethesda games coming to next-gen

the sisters from Wolfenstein: Youngblood attack a Nazi in mechanical armor

Eight Bethesda Softworks games, released as two separate compilations titled Wolfenstein Alt History Collection and Dishonored & Prey The Arkane Collection, are coming to Xbox Series X, according to new ratings from the Entertainment Software Ratings Board. The collections will also be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to retail listings at Best Buy.

The Wolfenstein Alt History Collection includes Wolfenstein: The New Order, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Best Buy lists the collection for $79.99 on current-generation consoles. Dishonored & Prey The Arkane Collection consists of Dishonored, Dishonored 2, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, and Prey, Arkane’s 2017 reboot. It costs $59.99 on current-generation consoles.

We’ve reached out to Bethesda for confirmation and additional details about the two collections. But given the publisher’s penchant for bringing its catalog forward to new platforms — and Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media — re-releases of MachineGames’ and Arkane Studios’ current-generation games would be in line with its strategy.

In August, Bethesda committed to bring Doom Eternal, which launched in March, and The Elder Scrolls Online to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The publisher said at the time that players who already own the games either on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will be able to upgrade for free.

$7bn purchase and the studio is still not committing to making exclusives, only vague hints at temporary exclusives. Oh boy.

“What we’ll do in the long run is we don’t have intentions of just pulling all of Bethesda content out of Sony or Nintendo or otherwise,” Stuar said

“So again, I’m not announcing pulling content from platforms one way or the other,” Stuart continued. “But I suspect you’ll continue to see us shift towards a first or better or best approach on our platforms.”

The decision is entirely there's so I'm not sure where the "oh boy" is coming from lol.

PS5 owners making MS money, whether at launch or later on, despite not buying into the ecosystem is a win-win situation for MS.

The oh boy is coming from the fact that a first party studio is making games for competing platforms after a ridiculously expensive acquisition.

There's a reason Naughty Dogs, Insomniac etc aren't making games on other consoles anymore.

They make 'system sellers'.

Isn't it obvious at this point that MS's strategy is towards Game Pass? The games will still be on PC so they don't seem terribly interested in the "Only on Xbox console and nowhere else" strategy. If they add PS5 install base to the mix, on a "per game basis", it only makes them more money, not less. This isn't surprising anymore.

Also, I don't think $7bn is "ridiculously expensive" for a trillion dollar company.

Which leads me to an earlier prediction that this may be MS's last generation as a console maker, they will transition to a publisher since they're already actively pursuing making games on competing platforms. They are clearly not in the market to sell systems anymore.

And $7bn is more than what Disney paid for Marvel, it's a ridiculous sum, and it didn't even land them an 'exclusive' studio. Just the exclusive publishing rights it seems.

Probably won't see any real effects of this until the next 2 years. It's telling the next 2 Bethesda studio games are PS5 exclusive titles.

At least game pass pe to Bethesda catalog daal do.

Whatever MS decides in terms of console exclusivity, one thing is clear, Game Pass will stay winning.

Microsoft is unlikely to get into the specifics about Bethesda’s upcoming projects. Details about the previously announced sci-fi role-playing adventure Starfield will likely come this summer, so Xbox and Bethesda won’t talk about that now. Instead, they will explain what the deal means for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

In particular, a number of Bethesda games should make the leap to Game Pass soon. Microsoft will also use this time to reiterate that any future (and contractually eligible) game from under the Zenimax umbrella will hit Game Pass at launch.

Xbox and Bethesda are also not planning to mash together their summer showcases. Both companies are preparing announcements for around E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Expo trade show), but they will hold them separately. Microsoft, however, may try to present them back-to-back as part of a one-two punch for Xbox.

Finally, it’s still unclear whether Microsoft and Bethesda will address the question of platform exclusivity. PlayStation fans want to know if Bethesda releases like Starfield, Indiana Jones, or The Elder Scrolls VI will also launch on PS5. The Thursday presentation may provide a black-and-white answer, or it might keep things gray — especially if its plans are more nuanced and conditional from game to game.

Microsoft will likely confirm the event in the next day or two.

This is the next step in building an industry-leading first party studios team, a commitment we have to our Xbox community. With the addition of the Bethesda creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.
The MMO/GaaS oriented games could be the ones benefiting from PS5 versions, while the lesser demanding games can possibly be ported over to Switch/Switch Pro as well.

The Forzas, Gears and Halos aren't on Sony platforms despite being on Game Pass. Its unlikely that the bigger single player IPs will be getting a PS5 version either, now that they are all officially MS first-party games.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
