I came back to my home country after 3 years for a short stay of 2 weeks and IMMEDIATELY i was bombarded with freakin' petty issues and needless timewasting tensions.

My mobile number of 10+ years from Ufone was cancelled and re-sold because i didn't turn it on for 6 months (yes i know it's my mistake but they should AT LEAST send an email or some sort of notification that it will be disabled if we don't use it. WTF).

Anyway, bought a new SIM from Zong and once again, my device is "Non Compliant" from PTA. Since this is the only device i brought back with me, i thought it would be free, and thought it would get registered automatically after making a phone call.

Am i wrong to think that?

Your suggestions will be most appreciated. 😎

DIRBS truly is a pain in the ass.

Anyway, one device to bring along is completely free of cost, but if you didn't get it done at the airport, you'll have to visit the Customs House with your passport and CNIC to go and get your phone approved.

Make sure you submit both IMEIs if it's a dual SIM phone.

Unfortunately yes. The online registration portal is only for dealers / shopkeepers AFAIK.

Although, the phone should work just fine without approval for up to 30 days since that's how DIRBS is supposed to work. Visitors aren't supposed to be inconvenienced by this, only people who live here.

The fact that your SIM doesn't work in the phone is quite weird.

Oh, in that case i'm relieved.

No the SIM is working (Zong number) but my IMEI was being shown as "Non compliant" when checked at DIRBS.

Well thanks for your help. It was really helpful. (y)

Oh then nothing to worry about. It says non compliant since you've never visited Pak with this phone before DIRBS was invented.

Continue using as is.

If a device status says "Non Complaint" but the Sims (incase of dual SIM) continue to work fine, will that be a problem?

I made my account at the DRS (Device Registration System) which needs your local phone number as well as the Passport and NIC number.

However, i decided NOT to register my phone since:
1) We are allowed ONLY ONE device per year as FREE phone to bring in Pakistan i.e. No need to pay Customs Charges on it, but still needs registration. As this device is already at it's end of life (OnePlus 3) and i may change it in future, so i opted to go back to UAE, buy another phone and register that one in Pakistan, whenever I come back.
2) I will not be here for longer than 30 days (as per PTA's website, we have 60 days to register the phone.)

As per the PTA's website, international travelers have 60 days of time to get their devices registered. After which, pretty sure it will stop functioning.

Good to know that they extended it to 60 days.

Also, wise choice by not registering it.

So I tired signing up a account for PTA Dribs system but I don't what happened, I entered all the details like Name, Cnic no, Passport no, email, contact info etc details. But it said I need to call them.

So I tried calling them, but the no is always busy, I tried both their Regional and Headquarters numbers but to no avail. Now I'm stumped!

& I think going directly to there office, will also be a wasteful experience.
murtaza12 Can you kindly enlighten me regarding this matter?

You've been in Pak for a while, no?

How come your phone wasn't registered?
Yea, since mid of 2016 but have been travelling back and forth. Not sure why it wasn't registered. I bought this phone from KSA in the last week of Dec, 2016 before coming back to Pakistan. So it's been 2 years of using it in here.

Did it say non compliant when you checked the status?

Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
