I am sorry Chandoo but i did not enjoy this game at all. Tried my best to like the game but the start of Chapter 5 was enough for me to let go and move on to another game. I absolutely love the game direction and the way the story is told in the game but I absolutely abhor how many times the game just takes control away from the player and shoves down ginormous amounts of subtitles that one has to read through. The single most annoying factor for me were these god forsaken subtitles to go through the moment I started enjoying the game.
Also, why are you trying to play this like a text-novel game. If you're just running from point to point story missions, you're doing it wrong. The appeal of Yakuza is how much shit there is to do in the world, all the awesome side activities, full arcade games inside the game and management sims built inside the central game as side content.

Finished it a few days back. Great game on the whole; really liked the combat system. Since I hadn't played previous Yakuza games, it felt like a re-envisioned Streets of Rage set in Japan to me. It's nice to be able to switch between fighting styles on-the-fly. My favs were Rush (Kiryu) and Slugger (Majime). Boss fights were fun albeit not nearly as creative as the ones in character action games like Bayonetta 1/2, Nier: Automata, and No More Heroes.
Only major drawbacks were the lack of seamless exploration (dated engine) and the massive amount of conversation cutscenes. I hope the studio cuts down on the thick exposition for Yakuza 6. A lot of these conversations could've happened without taking control away from the player.
Currently on chapter 4 and literally the only complaint I have is that the game doesn't have auto-save. Give us the ability to create a manual save, but also have an auto-save feature. That should be the norm for open world games. But other than that, the game is terrific and I'm wishing I had played it earlier. I enjoy dialogue heavy games, and I'm loving the story so far.
The side quests and mini-games are great. I spent like 15 minutes on the crane game trying to get a good plushie lol
I have to thank you for introducing PG to this series. Finished the game today and just sat for a while, disappointed that the game ended. Gonna go back to it to finish all the side quests after finishing my huge backlog.
The last few boss fights were awesome; the music was perfect in every single one. I loved seeing Lao Gui get knee'd in the face. Seriously, screw that guy. I don't think there's been a more punchable face in video game history. That Majima and Makoto cutscene at the end was sad af. Kiryu is a terrific protagonist. Nishiki iz best bro. Makoto is 2 precious 4 this world. The Lieutenants were all pretty believable antagonists.
Solid 9/10. The stupid save system caused me a lot of problems, otherwise it'd be a perfect 10.
Once you beat this, do give Kiwami a try too, but maybe wait a month or two between because they will feel identical if you play them one after another.
Just have a ps4 and want to get into Yakuza Games.
Which titles are available on ps4 as of now. Which ones are the essentials and which ones can I skip?
The only valid thing from his pov he said in the video is AC dead since Black Flag. According to woke police that game was woke too. Welsh man in West Indies. So atleast he's consistent I guess lol
Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!
Phil keeps talking about breaking barriers to gaming, making it accessible on all platforms yada yada, while killing competition and creativity at the same time. the fact that i actually believed him for a second lol
Phil should be held responsible for this shitfest too, just like Sarah, but it's highly likely that these decisions are coming from Satya. And this isn't even the end of it. More closures are coming.
if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

"These changes are not a reflection of the creativity and skill of the talented individuals at these teams or the risks they took to try new things" ... seems to me that's exactly what it is
