For those not familiar with the franchise but are getting intrigued by the good reviews, watch the following review. What Culture has pretty much summarized everything you'd need to know as a newcomer.
"P5 is for everyone. I know several people for whom Persona 4 was not only their first experience with Persona title but their first go at a JRPG and it ended up being one of their favorite games. This is just as easy to jump into..... "

Great share Chandoo. Its partly embarrassing for me to admit that I have never played a Persona game before but I have seen a lot of love for this game. That love complimented by the wonderful art style of the game has always intrigued me even though i never kinda understood what this game is all about. A lot of the answers are there in this video review.

^ That being said Venom, if you're able to play Persona 4 by any means, I would highly recommend giving it a shot too. I can confidently say Persona 4 is PakGamer's favorite JRPG.

If you have a PS2, modded PS3 to play PS2 version, decent computer to play it on PCSX2 or even a Vita for the Golden version. Persona 4 is a must play if you're remotely a fan of the JRPG genre in the slightest.

^^Yup, infact I'd recommend that you play P4 before P5, cus P5 is way flashier and stylish than the PS2 games, going from P5 back to P4 might diminish the impact of 4 a bit.

I do have a vita. Would that suffice? I mean is there any massive difference in p4 and p4g?

P4G actually has more content so it's the definitive version in terms of the total game package but they replaced voice actors for 2 of the main party in the game and it somewhat changes the experience for 'purists' like me.

This is great. Will definitely play Persona 5 now.

Also, I do have a modded PS3, and a decent gaming rig, so I'll look into playing Persona 4 first. Kinda wish I played it back during the ps2 days. Missed so many games of that era just because I was a pleb back then. :p

I certainly don't think that this is a game for everyone. I played P3 many years ago (about 8 or so) and didn't like it much. Same with P4 a couple of years ago.

Now I finished two SMT games(also 8 years ago!) from start to end (not side quests though), and seen the others a bit (the PS2 ones, not the 3DS ones). Even though I didn't like the random encounters, I did like them on the whole much better than Persona series. I just don't quite like the way atmosphere/tone/ambience of the Persona games changes back and forth. Not something that was quite present in the other SMT games (which were quite uniform).

Also was a little disappointed with framerate and graphics in P4 to be honest. Probably both of these would hold better in P5 though I guess.

Man I'm such a hypocrite. For all the talk about playing this on PS3 because of lack of huge differences, I went ahead and pre ordered the Steel book edition yesterday :p

Probably not trading this game in so Steel book will look good under the Pro.

I have been playing this game for a few hours now and I have to say, the start feels slow. The game still hasn't opened up properly despite me being atleast 4 hours into the story but there is definitely a lot of potential and the UI/Animations are flashy af. So far it is great and IMO, better than Persona 4: Golden.

how did you get a copy early :-/
I don't think any of the other Persona fans here on PG live in Karachi, otherwise I'm pretty sure everyone would have gotten their copies by now. Retailers in Karachi have had Persona 5 in stock since March 27th. That too, the steelbook edition.

The free Japanese voice-overs pack is 2.9GB large. The English voices in Persona have always been great, imo but I'm leaning towards having the Japanese VOs just because the Japanese cast is simply fantastic, and has a lot of big names. Too afraid to check (cuz of spoilers), but I'm pretty sure the voice actress of Morgana also voices Pikachu in the Pokemon anime lol

I think I'll be fine with the english localization. Atlus always does great localization efforts unlike Namco. Should be able to get my copy at 9PM at local GameStop. Gonna post when I do :D

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
