oka bro i have decided to enter in acca,
plz guide me what are the entry routes of acca?
i have heard about cat, fia thing but dont know in detail.
Im not quite sure myself because i started ACCA 4-5 years ago.. At that time there were 3 entry routes.. One entry route was if you are 21 years or older, then you can start acca (Mature Student Entry route MSER), Or you could do CAT and then join ACCA or you could join ACCA directly if you've done A Levels.

I think now adays its the same but instead of CAT, You have to do FIA now? Im not sure.. Plus i also think MSER route is now replaced with graduate route.. Check this website for more details:

I Hate IAS. Always get stuck in the prudence and matching concepts when it comes to different IAS.
Oh well doing Ias 33 construction contract nowadays
Last i checked...IAS 33 was Earning per share...and Construction Contracts is IAS 11

you need a new bound volume...:p

Well as part of the CA program, You have to undergo 3.5 years training (i think it has been increase to 4 years) after passing module A to D with an audit firm.
No mate, the training period has now been reverted to the original 3.5 years from the 3 year exception clause, where if you had cleared Module E and F in first attempt, your training would be reduced to 3 years instead of 3.5 years.
ICAP in a recent circular has removed this, and now all new contracts for those coming in from A-D are of 3.5 years, not sure about those coming in from Graduations, i think it was 5 years.

Uuh I know i am asking again, but since this thread is somewhere I can find genuine ACCA/CA people I have a few questions:

If I am sticking to the accountancy/finance field:

1) Should I opt for a Bachelors and then an ACCA after claiming exemptions, or go straight on with ACCA after A levels. Assuming the Bachelors is from a good foreign uni.
2) Does it affect my job prospects if I do ACCA direct and have no formal education?
3) Suppose I do my ACCA directly, and move on with CFA or ICAEW or IF I want to do a good masters, will there be any problems.
^All of the above questions are regarding the benefit or LACK off due to having/not having a Bachelors. Thats where I am confused.
4) ACCA salaries abroad, are they good? I would be considering Riyadh/Jeddah since I live in Saudi already and even the UAE.
5) If I'm sticking to the accountancy field, if I straight on go with ACCA > CFA (I really wanna do CFA :p) is that a bad choice? (DO I need a bachelors?)

Strictly speaking I have these two choices to STARt off with after my A levels, Bachelors from Nottingham or Monash, which are both great unis and both of their bachelors are accredited by ACCA/CIMA/CPA Australia and ACCA offers exemptions of the first 6 papers I think or maybe more. :/ Help :/ :D

u must go with acca, it is a gateway to many other foreign designations.
i my self shifted from ca to acca.

in ur query it seems that u are more concerned with having bachelor degree. the thing why students are attracted towards acca now a days ( including me) is u can get bachelor in applied accounting(hons) from "OXFORD UNIVERSITY OF BROOKES" after passing f1 to f9. and after completing whole acca (and becoming a member of acca) u can also get membership of cga ( certified general accountant) of canada, u can also enjoy membership of icaew 9 ( after 5 years of practicing)...........
my situation is also similar to you , ill have to move to uae after doing acca from here or atleast clearing upto f7 .

Well first off, It would be a great addition to your CV if you go abroad and do bachelors from abroad. It will set you apart from the thousands of accas in the market these days so i would say if you have the money and the time, Go for it. If you can get 6 papers exempted thats great too then you'll only have to give the remaining 8 papers which if you are very good in studies, You should pass them in 1-1.5 years

Now on to your questions:

1) Should I opt for a Bachelors and then an ACCA after claiming exemptions, or go straight on with ACCA after A levels. Assuming the Bachelors is from a good foreign uni.
Go for bachelors in my opinion.. No one will be able to guide you properly in this regard, but just have a look in industry.. People who have bachelors from foreign countries are in good demand.
2) Does it affect my job prospects if I do ACCA direct and have no formal education?
Well it does a little bit. Having a proper bachelors degree does make a difference.
3) Suppose I do my ACCA directly, and move on with CFA or ICAEW or IF I want to do a good masters, will there be any problems.
^All of the above questions are regarding the benefit or LACK off due to having/not having a Bachelors. Thats where I am confused.
Well that is also a good route you can take.. You can do ACCA plus CFA or ICAEW and go for MBA later on. I plan on that as well. There shouldnt be any problems since you can get a bachelors degree from Oxford Brookes from ACCA after you pass papers till F9 so you can join Masters based on that degree plus most universities do recognize ACCA/CFA/ICAEW and there shouldnt be any problems if you pursue masters later on.
4) ACCA salaries abroad, are they good? I would be considering Riyadh/Jeddah since I live in Saudi already and even the UAE.
They're pretty decent. I've heard figures ranging from 5-10 thousand riyals for fresh qualified ACCA, Whereas for an ACCA Member (with 3 years experience) somewhere in the range of 10-17 thousand Riyals
5) If I'm sticking to the accountancy field, if I straight on go with ACCA > CFA (I really wanna do CFA :p) is that a bad choice? (DO I need a bachelors?)
CFA requires bachelors.. but it considers ACCA equivalent to bachelors plus since you already get a bachelors degree along with ACCA you dont need to worry about it.

well am also going to shift in acca from ca.
these are my plans:

ill start with HND (higher national diploma) in accountancy which is awarded by edexel ( a prestigious educational body in uk).
after completing HND ill move to dubai.

i have a strong expectation that , ill get a good or average job paying atleast 4000dhs on the basis of HND ( since HND is equal to 2 years of bachelor hons degree of uk and also HEC recognizesHND as btech in accounting)

( correct me if my expectations are really near to reality or not )

after completing hnd ill be having two options

1) either to continue ACCA FROM F7 ( EXEMPTIONS OF 6 PAPERS IN ACCA AFTER HND)
2) GIVE TWO MORE PAPERS AFTER HND AND GET HDA ( HIGHER DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTANCY)
NOW AFTER HAVING HDA I CAN CLAIM EXEMPTIONS OF 8 PAPERS IN ICAEW.( TOTAL PAPERS ARE 14)

SINCE ICAEW IS CONDUCTING ITS PAPERS IN DUBAI ,,, SO GOING WITH ICAEW SEEMS ME MORE ATTRACTIVE PLUS IT WILL BE AFFORDABLE FOR ME BECAUSE ILL ALREADY BE EMPLOYED ON THE BASIS OF HND..

GUYS THIS IS ONLY my predicted path, i need lot of attentions and advices from you guys ,,,, so that i can opt this path, u can also pm me
