Zong 4G Device is the new PTCL? Extremely poor performance now...

Asslamoaleikum guys, so I bought Zong 4G MiFi device back in early 2016 and it was the best Internet experience I ever had. Always lightning fast speed, no downtimes, stable ping etc. But it's been about an year now since the service started to go downhill, now I get only 1-2 signals most of the time. 150-below 100KBps download speed normally (used to be upto 3MBps back then), sometimes it goes down and usually the speed is very sluggish. Really disappointed as it seems just like PTCL now, the only hope for good wireless ISP seems to be getting lost now. What's going on? Is it due to the inflation of users? Or some technical issue?
Btw I'm living in Islamabad G13 sector, I would like to hear if people from different areas are facing this issue or not.

Yes it is .your talk is spot on and it is due to influx of new users .same old disease .give more connections to users instead of serving the ones that you can

This happens to all the ISP's in Pakistan. They just cant handle the load and go shit.

Bottomline is that there is only one big Corporation that handles the actual internet in pakistan and that is PTCL. All others are very small time players as compared to ptcl and cater to less then 10% of internet base in Pakistan combined, ptcl has the rest 90% share. These ISP's just don't have the enough bandwith or manpower to handle the huge load so when they are new they are good but when their user base start to increase as more ppl come online to the network then their infrastructure starts to choke down.
We will never have actual competition unless some big corporation enters the Wired internet scene, wifi is extremely limited, even if the ISP has the bandwith their is a limit of how much you can transfer over wireless as channels start to backlog as more users connect to the same tower and to transmit really high bandwith from a tower drastically reduces its range hence wireless operators opt to increase their range by transmitting the signal at low power which can reach further. That is the single only reason why wireless internet always have capped bandwith packages everywhere in the world.

Doesn't Transworld get ping issues during peak times too? It's not the be all and end all of connections.
It was until a few days ago. They've stopped now. Pings are back to normal.

This is entirely untrue. Each of the cellcos has more customers than PTCL. PTCL is barely single digit percent of the market now. Before 3G/4G we had a couple of million or so broadband users in the entire country. Now it's over 60 million. The cellcos have brought broadband to the masses.

What is true is that a handful of companies control our international bandwidth but that is rapidly changing too. It used to be just PTCL and transworld but now theirs multinet, cybernet and SCO all providing international connectivity.

China mobile (Zong's parent company) is the largest mobile phone company in the world. They have massive resources. In time they too will become part of a submarine cable consortium.

Note that customers that have a poor experience are more likely to complain on forums like these. For those who are happy there is no incentive to speak out. So keep that in mind when you read complaints like these.

edit: also 3g/4g is not wifi.

I don't really think so, most other wired operators only operate in single digit cities and their too in very limited areas.
Take stormfiber for example, it doesn't even cover 50% of Lahore city let alone other cities. Same goes for Nayatel, only available in limited areas of ISL and handful of other cities.
I am pretty sure if we calculate wired internet subscribers then ptcl will still be above 75% share easily. Thats because of their already available copper network. Sure other ISP's have better FTTH coverage then ptcl but that is a very small user-base.
The high amout of increased subscribers are due to addition of 3g/4g users which is extremely limited in speed but mostly bandwith.

I think stormfiber having permission issues in Lahore. If you look at the coverage of stormfiber in Peshawar then it have cover a good part of Peshawar in a very little time.
