This sounds too awesome to be true really but you never know, Looks like Nintendo is getting ready to dominate the 8th consoles wars.

I wonder if MS and SONY will also reveal their next consoles anytime soon.

Dont think Nintendo will be able to last very long in the next generation with only slightly better graphics then the PS360. That'll just put them in the same position as they currently are.... Competing with the PS2 in terms of graphics.


There has to be catch in this. Something revolutionary to drive consumers into buying the Wii 2.

^^The Wii has completely dominated the console market despite being a sub HD machine, It's done so well that the competitors even tried to mimic their strategy and target the casual audience with dance games So graphics don't matter too much.

But I agree Nintendo definitely have something up their sleeve, We'll find out at E3.

Wii 2 is 80% More Powerful than 360

One such recent piece of information was posted by 01net and translated by Destructoid: the Wii2 will probably have an ATI R700 series GPU.

The R700 series GPU has a clock speed of 900MHz. PS3’s RSX clocks at 700MHz, and the 360’s sports 500Mhz. This puts the Wii 2’s graphics at, tentatively, 30% more powerful than the PS3 and 80% greater than the 360.
The architecture is said to be similar to the 360’s three-core CPU, further specs unknown. The Wii 2 is looking as if it could hold its own against Sony and Microsoft’s next consoles.

The Wii 2 is the first of the 8th gen consoles, So it's obvious that it'd be more powerful than the 7th gen machines.

The Wii 2 is looking as if it could hold its own against Sony and Microsoft’s next consoles.

In terms of power, I doubt it but it'll sell well, It might dominate the gen like it's predecessor.

^^ LOL, still they managed to sell roughly twice as many xbox360s were sold, and most of Nintendo games are first party so they pocket a lot of money from games. If you see the list of most games ever sold, the top 20 is dominated by Nintendo to the extent that 18 games are for its consoles. I think these companies only care about their earnings, you can keep your popularity contest to yourself.

The PS3 is the most technologically advanced console in the generation, however, least selling and not a single game selling in enough numbers to get into the charts.

The Wii is the most gripping gaming experience in my opinion, I only played PS3 for more than a year, but it seldom gets a chance since I got a Wii, and I am using an HD TV if that matters, playing Tiger Woods on PS3 is not close to the experience on the Wii, Sony could not even copy something properly. However, the sharp shooter is a bit better than the Zapper.

Nintendo is going to revolutionize consoles once again, HD and GPU upgrades are obvious, I am more interested in the kind of controller and interaction that they will bring this time

Here's the latest on pricing and possible CPU/GPU structure.

According to sources with knowledge of the project, Nintendo's next console could have a retail price of anywhere between $350 and $400 based on manufacturing costs, and will ship from Taiwanese manufacturer, Foxconn, this October, putting the earliest possible retail release anywhere between mid-October and early November.

Additionally, IGN has learned that the system will be based on a revamped version of AMD's R700 GPU architecture, not AMD's Fusion technology as previously believed, which will, as previously reported, out perform the PlayStation 3's NVIDIA 7800GTX-based processor. Like the Xbox 360, the system's CPU will be a custom-built triple-core IBM PowerPC chipset, but the clocking speeds will be faster. The system will support 1080p output with the potential for stereoscopic 3D as well, though it has not been determined whether that will be a staple feature.
