Salam dear brothers, i was planning to build a decent gaming pc, so i searched on internet about good gaming hardware and also watched a lots of youtube videos one thing i saw everywhere is the (SSD), ok so i continued my search but this time only about ssd and found that it boosts the OS speed, so is that all i get after spending money on ssd or it really does makes a good enough difference in gaming like 15-20% or above? if yes so do i have to install the games in ssd or its fine to install them on hdd? becasue i was planning to buy WD 1tb caviar black if a buy ssd my budget will cut and i will have to buy a caviar green or so, dear brothers help me clear my mind. thanks

fast boot up time, games load faster especially multiplayer titles, if you are into vid recording you wont notice any lag even when recording at 1080p, your partitions wont crap out so you wont have to download tons of games again

SSD's are solid state drives there is no moving part like traditional Machenical hard drive, speed is x3 to x4 times faster than normal Hard drive (depends upon different technologies/controllers).

1- of course you have to install the games on ssd (you can't enjoy speed of Lamborghini while sitting in Mehran)

2- yes normal connectors but ssd won't fit on your hdd drive Bay.

Yes games and all necessary files need to be installed on the ssd....and the connectors are the same as sata...no issues in tht...but u hve to place it somewhere secure in the casing....

1. The speed ur OS loads depends on the speed on hard disk it is installed. Faster the hard disk faster will be booting time! SSDs are at least 4 times faster! I'm using Corsair Force GS 60GB n my system boots in 11secs
2. Loading time of applications, softwares, games: well same as OS games, applications, softwares also have to be loaded before execution! It takes awfully long on my mechanical hard disk to load apps like Adobe Photoshop or Light room and games like BF4, BF3. Same stuff loads at 1/4th the time on SSD.
3. Brand depends which controller is used, which generation SSD is from! Don't settle for cheap ones! Spend on a latest SSD n always update firmware! If buying used one must check its life using softwares like SSDLife which gives u estimated usage life. Lesser use means better SSD.
4. Down side is SSDs are vulnerable to sudden voltage fluctuations and anyother issues so they can go kaput! But these days new controllers and chips have eliminated this threat to a great extent.
So if someone is building a system, the most obvious upgrade I would recommend to someone is SSD whether it's a normal working PC or a gaming PC.

And another thing Hard drives have moving parts in them therfore vulnerable to physical damages such as vibration or accident drop. SSD are light and small. Another thing keep in mind More capacity ur ssd have faster it is, speed increase with capacity. I am using Samsung 250GB ssd love it :)

A system have 2 kinds of storage devices:-

1. Temporary (RAM)
2. Permanent (HDD; SSD)

Most of the data that is processed in the system, is stored in storage devices. This data includes OS and associated applications. An application is installed on permanent storage device but depends upon both permanent and temporary storage devices to function upon execution. If both permanent and temporary storage devices are fast, the application would load faster and run better accordingly.

SSD represents a major leap in performance of permanent storage devices, it significantly enhances over-all computing experience of the system in comparison to HDD. If high-end computing experience is the objective, an SSD should be considered.

While SSD is very fast, it is not as reliable as an HDD for long-term usage/abuse and more expensive as well. Therefore, it is wise to use both SSD and HDD in a system; SSD can be used to run OS and important applications while HDD can be used for storage of vital data. This combination works well for both cost-benefit and reliability aspects.
