Hello,

Due to some problem with my TP Link I have to change my modem, now today I visited PTCL Customer Service to buy a new one but they have 2 modem one is Tenda (don't know model number) and other one is D-Link 2750U.

Which one should I buy.. Need excellent coverage in 5000 sq/ft ground and first floor, and better security and WiFi access control options.

Line: ONU
Bandwidth: 4MB
For SmartTV also

No single consumer grade router can give you that kind of coverage.

You'll need to get the DLink 2750U with Cat6 wiring to set up multiple APs and set them to the same SSID / Wifi channel with identical security configurations to get full coverage and proper WLAN roaming.

I would suggest to get yourself some other branded wifi modem. Get a normal wifi from PTCL and then get yourself one like CISCO/Linksys wifi modem. Works like a charm.

And about the Smart TV, I'm not sure any commercially available modem is able to do that. Only Ptcl modems can do that. I could be wrong.

They can do it, but you'll need to set up a VLAN thing, which I don't know how to do.
It's preconfigured on the PTCL modems that's why it works out of the box.

The Tenda is a very old W150D. Crap modem. I used to have it.

Get the 2750U, it's better compared to the Tenda.

Yes. That's what I was recommending.

Use the 2750U for SmartTV, and use Cat6 Ethernet to connect as many APs as you need for better coverage.

About the pricing check from the local market. Do check online as well but usually their prices are a little on the higher side. Check Galaxy.com.pk They have pretty competitive pricing.

Precisely. Basically the better brands are on the higher side. When I wanted a router, I checked the manufacturers website for their latest model and then looked for that in the local market as I knew exactly what I wanted.

To spread the signals even more, just get one of those Linksys or D-Link wifi extenders which go directly into a socket plug and extend the signal across the floor. Usually plug and play.
