Hello everyone, just wanted to know what thermal paste you are using in your gaming laptops,

I bought TG Kryonaut and its performance worsened after a month and I didn't know that before buying as it has pump out and other issues.

so, just wanted to know what thermal paste the gaming laptop enthusiasts use in pak?

I have tested a lot of thermal paste including Arctic series, CM series, TG and Noctua on my work PC with 3900X & CM ML360R because it does of lot of heavy workload. I found Noctua NT-H1 to be the best but TG Kryonaut was a very close second with Arctic Silver 5 being third. Frankly there was such a minor gap between Noctua & TG that I consider them to be equally good.

TG Kryonaut should'nt have worsened the termals, might be the application method or tightening/levelling of heatsink. It would be a goood idea to revist the application, check CPU & heatsink to see if it made proper contact or the paste was uneven.

yes I'm planning to reapply the thermal paste as it was my first attempt to change the thermal paste and I could have messed it up and for the time being, I have disabled the turbo on my CPU coz normal load like opening steam takes the CPU temp to 90 plus and I have a new laptop.

I also ordered Noctua thermal paste and will get back with the results

One thing more before changing the TP temp usually stayed between 70-80max on AC Odyssey and after changing the TP temp goes to 90-95 easily.

Thermal paste just transfers the heat from CPU to Heatsink, beacuse the surface of the CPU's IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader, the metallica plate on the CPU) is not polished or super flat, and might have microsocpic pores / surface imperfections which would prevent full contact with heatsink and hence full transfer of heat, so the paste fills up those imperfections. You don't need much paste, just enough to fill those imperfections and ensure full contact.

Even more than quality of paste, quantity or application; what mostly comes down to is the compression of heatsink (tightening) to form proper contact. If there isn't enough compression of the heatsink (not tight enough) then there isn't enough contact and hence not enough heat transfer.

What you are seeing in those 90+ temps could be worse as the CPU could be throttling it self down so it does not go beyond the design limits. Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut that you already have is an excellent thermal paste, you wouldn't see much improvenemnt with Noctua NT-H1. Maybe re-apply it and see first.

I would open it up, see the pattern on CPU and Heatsink to see if it was correct application and contact, then clean it all up with Alcohol Swabs (avaialble in Pharamacies). Use the spatula that comes with TG Kryo to spread it to make a thin film, then put the heatsink flat level on to it, being carfeul not to put uneven pressure on one side as it will push the paste to other side, then tighten it evenly in cross fashion gradually till its fully tightened.

I will try your suggestion and will try first with Kryonaut and I think I was not careful with the pressure and leveling while placing back the heatsink, I will be careful this time and i watched the kryonaut fake video, mine i think is real coz i bought from czone. Thanks for your time helping me.
