hey there,

i am a student of I-com 2nd year, my collage will start tomorrow...
actually due to some complicated reasons, (some understanding issues with my father) will not go too deeply in it.....
he is not supportive, and i have almost zero guidance..

well, straight to the point, i wanna go abroad, preferably UK... i am extremely confused, what do i do next, where should i start..??

i mean, which field should i go to, which will help me in getting abroad... i wanna do something for myself... i don't wanna continue the family business because i don't have interest in it, neither am i good at it... i don't find myself fitting in Pakistan's environment....im just not cut out for it....

i have been told that, people with extremely good marks are walking around with degrees in their hand and no one is hiring them, anyways..
kindly guide me on what to do???

extremely confused,

a detailed response will be highly appreciated

i hope u guys understand my situation...

thank you

salam ,

my dear first of all , make sure about the following statement that , matter of RIZQ is only and only related to ALLAH's will ,
2 things are directly handled by ALLAH explicitly explained in QUran are RIZQ and FAME, its promised by ALLAH , that its pre dedceided about rizq how much and to whom will be given is decided by ALLAH, so dont worry ever about JOB ( rizq actually ) becasue job some times meaning to earn money NOT RIZQ.....there is huge difference between them ,

i will talk separately about the issues i am seeing in your case, as per my vision and experience decision will be ONLY yours, i can only guide you through ..

1, Carrier VS JOB VS Passion

Parents always suggests what's is best for you so dont ignore that , but , your interest counts a lot , if you are not inerested then convince your Father very very politely with reasons and explain to him WHY you are not interested and explain to him your Intention for future with benefits for studying (yes its hard part but can be easy if you convince the negative part of it ) along this explain the negative points of your decision along with your plans to over come those negatives as well ...... its very very critical and important and this is the only point where you and your father are having conflict ,

job does not depands on what you study , its depands on what ALLAH has decided for you and circumstances at that time , i have got MCS degree in 2001 at that time when i went for job i got 1200 RS pakistan for first job because 911 happened and it hits programming field very badly hence i ended up in a banking carrier one of my friend refer me to Citi bank and my friend who referred me is still there in Paksitan and i got opportunity to go to UAE and i ended up there are thousands in Pakistan even better then me but ALLAh make my way to UAE.......!! ( think on this ) the main point is , JUST work HARD and PRAY and let ALLAh do the REST... you CANNOT control what you get but you can control what you DO ....!

but my passion is always being programmer so i am still into it , and during my banking tenor ( 7 years ) i never stopped programming at personal level , and now i am learning java and android to start making apps for it and may start a business for it ,

Result : STUDY DIDNT GUARANTEE YOUR DREAM JOB...!!! , WORK HARD and TRY & TRY AGAIN can WIN YOU what you want ( at the discretion of ALLAH ) but your HARD WORK will not end up in vain but it will be rewarded in some other ways ...

2, Studies ABROAD ....!!

i can see that you are much eager to just GO ABROAD , my dear , there is saying that Dur key dhol suhaney , its very very true, West is far more better then us , in many ways, but my dear they sees us as with very disgraceful vision .... beleive it or not this is very very True, ....when you will end up there you will get to know about this better ... any how , there is no harm in study abroad provided that you are very rich ....first thing, to afford the expensive study ...

i will talk separately about the issues i am seeing in your case, as per my vision and experience decision will be ONLY yours, i can only guide you through ..

NUT SHELL..

* carrier does not depands on your study but your choice of job ( you may be a banker but ended up as programmer ) and you may be a programmer but ended up as a banker ( my team leader at software house was a BCOM , and in bank i am Computer sceince graduate doing banking :) i didnt not mean to discourage , the main point is , NEVER GIVE UP what you DO .and TRY AND TRY again to get SUCCESS ... as i am doing now a days i have started programming agin

2, Studies ABROAD ....!!

just study abroad as i told earlier is not a guarantee to success , My team leader in software house was a diploma holder and bcom only but he was haviin excellent skills in programming so he was leading me while i got a Masters degree , what i want say is , Degree does count study does count but what really matters is what you can do in practical life , i got A grades in my masters but in programming feild i failed ...!!! :) but nevertheless not died....!! i tried and tried again and not i am back on path ...!!

was i observe that you are eager to just GO ABROAD , my dear , there is saying that Dur key dhol suhaney , its very very true, West is far more better then us , in many ways, but my dear they sees us as with very disgraceful vision .... beleive it or not this is very very True, ....when you will end up there you will get to know about this better ... any how , there is no harm in study abroad provided that you are very rich and your family is having a great financial support plus what ever you are investing there can you get the returns in same pace ..... Pakistan also have very good opportunities for studying you can try LUMS, FAST, CBM, SZABIST , GIK etc and too much variety of private universities as well , ...

NUT SHELL about studying abroad

1, Expensive
2, western life fun but very narrow space to practice your religion ISLAm.....( you will hardly able to listen to AZAn which is a bestow of ALLAH )
3, you may get better understanding of subject if you study aborad but it depands on your way of study same you can get in pakistan if you want
4, JOB still not a guarantee.... :)
5, life is much more fast , workaholic , and mechanical you harldy find time for other and yourself even .....
6, Opportunities are more , and life is very easy ...technically
7, Home sickness

CAN YOU ELABORATE THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT..

. i don't find myself fitting in Pakistan's environment....im just not cut out for it....

what makes you think like this........??? if you can give me some convincing facts then i can a bit more about the topic ...

regards

Thank you brother, for your elaborate response...
didn't have any proper guidance, so i turned to a place like PG...

anyways, lets get to the point, shall we?
As far as convincing my father, i have tried my best, politely in a very humble way.. but he wouldn't budge..
you may call it generation gap, his way of thinking is very different to mine.
he is always jumping to conclusion...
i know every parents think for the we'll being of their children... im sure he does too...
i have had very issues with him in the past. very SEVERE issues...At one point i was almost suicidal because of how i was treated...
but i pushed myself and kept on going.... i would rather not talk about it...

The reason UK attracts me so much is because my chacha is settled there , he has 3 kids Mash-Allah... he works in Hewlett-Packard otherwise known as ''HP''
So, he will be my major support, he will support me financially, guide me.. the Do'es and Dont's..

so, once i get there it will not be as difficult for me as it may be for other people......

''i don't find myself fitting in Pakistan's environment....im just not cut out for it.... ''

what i meant was, I don't think i am cut out to work is an environment like Pakistan....
Cant fulfill the demands of this society, where people get jobs on the basis of ''parchi system''
i believe in myself, i am a really hardworking person, but sadly there are not a lot of opportunities for people like me..
I have excellent English communication skill.... what use is that here?... meanwhile i suck at Urdu......
What i am good at means nothing in Pakistan..... but i think i go abroad and try myself i will succeed InshAllah....

and frankly speaking, who doesn't get tired of a country like Pakistan, the amount of corruption is overwhelming,
Crime rate is Constantly increasing. When u step out of your home you don't know if u will come back, a bomb might go of and blow you to bits..
Pakistan claims to be a nuclear power but doesn't have electrical power.... u get the idea,.
i absolutely don't wanna make a career for myself in this country which is constantly going down hill...
Ask yourself, Would u like to Raise your Children in this kind of atmosphere?

I completely agree, one should never give up and keep working HARD, opportunities will present themselves.
We'll the main question was, as i told u i am in I-Com 2nd year.... what should i do next after completing my 2nd year...
What steps should i take which will eventually lead abroad....

Thankyou

regarding your concerns about corruption , and other crimes its a considerable reason .....!! and yes of course why our youth want to move out of countyr is the same reason corruption , but my dear , most of us are corrupt as well....!! ,

what best you can do is to search for the good universities and college online , through internet and choose the one which can meet your requirement , points to be noted are as below

1, university expense you should be having enough to convince that you will be there for study and you will return to home country once completed
2, you must be convincing the interviewer about your intention that why you wnat to study there not in pakistan mean while there are lot of universities in pakistan as well
3, prepare all the necessary tests, like IELTS , and SAT or GMAT or GRE as applicalbe,

4, once you have decided .....DONT TURN BACK ...this is very important .because new environment will make you think again on your decision but once DECISION is made never turn back other wise you will keep on turning back in your whole life.....!!

5, in case you are not able to move outside pakistan by now ....dont be dishearted and make your self sufficient enough that they ( other coutries ) would probably call you to serve them .... it will bring proud to yourself as well as country it self...

good luck ..... ANY HELP YOU NEED FURTHER IN THIS REGARDS ABOUT INFORMATION ETC OR ANY THING YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO DECIDED DO LET ME KNOW I CAN highlight the facts ...and may be the decision will become easier to make for you...

best regards

going to uk is perhaps the easiest way to waste time...nothing will come out of it, unless there is a job waiting for u in Pakistan. Going to uk is very expensive, plus finding a job there is EXTREAMLY hard...

better option will be Australia (though it is expensive)
or Canada, America or (if u can over come the language barrier) Germany.

Tell your dad that staying in Pakistan will be a lose-lose situation for both him and you....

I would advise you to go to Karachi, Lhr or Isloo and complete your bachelors ..

One more thing, Am I right in assuming that you havent spent alot of time in either of the 3 cities I mentioned??

he will be a tremendous help, i.e. he can give me pointers, help me in getting a job, a temporary place to stay, even though i will always be welcome . i will move out on my own once i get independent..

And yes, i have spent a lot of time in Isloo :p and Lahore...

There's great recession all over the world these days, and things aren't expected to improve. I advise you to stay in Pakistan.

yaar no offence but getting jobs in uk is very hard.....most of my mates have either come back to Pakistan, applied for PhD or Masters...out of around 50 freinds, only a couple got job

I asked that question casue places like clifton/defence in Karachi wont leave you feelin like u live in Pakistan..there are alot of english speaking crowd and plenty to do.....Karachi is a very fun place to be...and I am sure so is Lhr and Isloo..it depends on your friends and group
though i prefer this side of town (N.nazimabad and Gulshan Iqbal)
