Bandai Namco has picked up the next project from Supermassive Games, best known for the PlayStation 4 horror-adventure game Until Dawn. Called The Dark Pictures Anthology, the series will include a number of individual games, each with a shared goal in mind: scare the hell out of players.
First up from The Dark Pictures, which is out in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, is a story called Man of Medan. Players switch between a cast of four American tourists in what sounds like a deadly Gilligan’s Island-esque experience: Their summer cruise turns into a fight for survival aboard a haunted, World War II-era ship.
Man of Medan bears the hallmarks of previous Supermassive Games, with a variety of choices, pathways and endings available. All four characters’ lives are at stake as well,according to Supermassive Games. Watch the trailer above and try to tell us Man of Medandoesn’t feel like an Until Dawn successor, only this time at sea. While the developer’s most recent game,Hidden Agenda, was a lackluster experiment in interactive storytelling, The Dark Pictures Anthology already looks like an intriguing return to form.
