[UNBOXING] ASUS MeMO Pad HD7 8GB

I recently purchased Asus MeMO Pad HD7 (8GB). I was looking for some decently priced tab for a few weeks. Final choice was to be made between Asus Memo Pad HD7 and Ainol Numy AX1

and finally decision went in favor of asus due to following reasons:-
1. Better battery life (10 hrs vs 5-6 hrs)
2. Better resolution (1280 x 800 vs 1024 x 600)

The Numy AX1 had some additional attractive features like better cameras, LED flash, FM radio, dual sim, 3G support, HDMI port but frankly I would have not used even one out of them. Battery life and resolution weighted more for me. The asus memopad had the perfect combination of what I was looking for. Costed me Rs 14.5k from Galaxy and Rs 1.1k for the 16GB SD-card.

Please tell me the names of the games and I'll check them out for you. I don't game on the tab. My kids have installed games of their interest and they seem to be happy

sir, as I said screen resolution and battery life were deciding factors for me. I mainly use the tab for reading pdf documents and casual surfing. I know it can't compete the likes of Nexus and other powerful tabs but it does the job pretty well for me. In the research papers that I study, I need to zoom for figures and tables and I see no breakage of text. The higher screen resolution might compromise game performance in comparison to e.g. Numy AX1 (just my guess based upon simple logic (both have same GPU and similar CPUs), haven't checked that). So basically, it boils down to your preferences and choices. For some, screen resolution might not matter and instead would like 2g/3g support and better gaming. Some would like excellent battery life and so. This tab suits me as a package.

I can do that but I don't expect much in terms of picture quality as for 8GB asus memopad HD7 there is 2MP/0.3MP cameras whereas the 16GB variant has 5MP/1.2MP camera both without flash. For me, a decent working front camera is more than enough for a tablet.

as per specs on asus website, there are two differences betwen 8GB and 16GB variants apart from the storage space

1. 5MP/1.2MP camera (16GB) and 2MP/0.3MP camera (8GB)
2. Dual Stereo speakers with SonicMaster Technology (16GB) and High quality speaker (8GB)

Apart from the above, I don't see any difference. Both version don't have LED flash. The sound of 8GB version is fine/loud enough. I dont have any problems with sound.
