For this you need to contact your local area line man. Convince him that the DB box is at fault and needs replacement. 99% problem of low snr, noise and slow speed relates to old DB boxes.

i am shocked with the speed PTCL is laying down FIBRE optic Lines and thoses Cup Board Type Boxes all over Dha - 1 [MENTION=11094]StrikerX[/MENTION] , there 100mb package will they give better pings on eu servers then Transworld .

Speed has nothing to do with pings.

You'll get the same latency to EU whether on 10 Mbps or on 100.

so ur saying PTCL routing to EU will be better then TRANSWORLD what about there customer support - though i must say TRANSWORLD is spot on with there complaint resoloution .

No I never said that. I just said speed has nothing to do with pings.

Transworld is finally available in my area. I currently have Stormfiber. Which is better? Stormfiber is very stable and customer service is great. The only issue is that they don't have any packages above 30mbps.

Transworld provided me with Huawei's HG8245H ONT.

The device has a USB port and can function as an FTP server but I couldn't get it to work. I've tried everything but no luck - I think Transworld has disabled the FTP function of the device because when I emailed them to inquire about it, they said and I quote "FTP services are only allowed for corporate customers." and that pisses me off to no end. I've paid 6k for the god damn device man, let me do what I want with it.

They've also locked out other perfectly normal functions that should be user accessible like setting custom DNS servers at the ONT level.

Edit: Yep, confirmed it. They've blocked out a lot of useful features of the ONT for god knows what reasons. Quite frustrating.

Soon as the PON connection is established, their NMS sends over a config file that overwrites any previous config on the ONT. That file locks out the admin account (telecomadmin), disables the FTP service, revokes SSH and Telnet access to the ONT from LAN side devices and blocks out the fields for custom DNS servers amongst other things.


Only the user account (root/admin) is available which is extremely limited in terms of what permissions it has; can't access any of the settings they've disabled.

Have you tried logging in the modem using telecomadmin as username and admintelecom as password? It gives access to alot of settings and I think FTP Server is one of them. Sorry I don't have much knowledge about FTP but there is a setting for sure.

There's quite a few things that could cause this. First things first, try connecting a laptop/PC to the ONT directly via an ethernet cable and check if the speed improves; make sure no other devices are connected to the ONT (turn off the Wifi). If you're getting proper speeds there then the issue is at your end - maybe theres too much interference on the wifi channel you're on.

If the speeds do not improve even on ethernet, then its definitely a problem at their end. Keep bugging them till they check it out.

Also, 5Mbps is more than enough for general browsing.

I want to disconnect PTCL finally since they've just been unbearable these past few weeks, TW showed up at my doorstep today asking if I want a connection, I agreed and they'll give me the first month free as well, so I'm looking forward to having a competent customer support department and better latency than PTCL.

Also, what sort of pings do you guys get on Fortnite EU and Asia servers, and on EA's European servers, particularly for Battlefield?
