ok i didnt have time to read through all the responses, but here goes..

firstly, i am a self taught game developer myself and i have been doing it since 15.. i am the co-founder of Nerdiacs.. its got less to show right now but believe me when i say i have killed myself to get to the level i work on right now, and i have had decent enough offers from reputable companies so i think this is what you want to achieve..

now, one of the foremost things is to maintain focus.. if things look hard right now to concentrate then maybe you arent motivated enough, because believe me things would get harder once you dive into it..

your mind is racing right now, its the age for that so you are just trying to jump and get your hands on to everything.. that wont help.. take it all in a single line.. think of a project to do, a small game lets say.. now start working on it, when you need the models, build the models when you need the textures make the textures and when you need the sounds make the sounds.. that way, you will get your hands on experience doing everything, and it will automatically fall onto a single line, that you are working on.. right a blog post regarding it too if you feel like it, the point is that all the things that you want to do should fall into that single project, its like placing all the dots on a single line..

it will take time to understand how to organize your brain, but the thing you should remember is to place things in a linear flow, and work on everything one after the other..

another important point, web design? cut it, that would mean jumping around all over the place.. focus on one object, being a top notch game developer.. once you are good enough, you will have all the concepts to do what ever you want to..

i hope this helps, to be honest there is little anyone else can say to help you focus.. you just need to be that motivated to achieve an objective and only then would you put in the amount of effort required to be the best..

Procrastination is a very deep level act, normally covered in guilt, lack of self confidence, lack of patience etc.

Basically an indirect cause of this the Piracy. We Pirate right from windows all the way up to smallest utilities. Let me clear a fact. The overabundance usually leads to destruction. For example if you have seen in movies, novels or stories that when a person is working hard and earning rightfully, he is happy. But when he wins a big lottary, his downfall will start as everything will be for granted for him.

Piracy is exactly the same thing, Its like a magic box and every thing you ever want is available freely. What is actually does is rip you off from sensen of achievement and self worth. Slowly you loose your self respect. Loose sense of direction and generally it makes you guilty in your subconscious mind, leading to procrastination ( As you become lazy thinking everything is available ).

You always need water right?, but what happens when its becomes too much?; you start drowning and struggle to get free. Same case is here. @MegamanEXE is struggling because too much is available. I remember when I was 17, I had no internet, no awesome books to learn from, just a simple Pentium 2 computer with windows 98 on it and boy that was best time of my life. I had to run games by finding ways around windows, learning the codes to edit game files etc but that was satisfying, now I have a GTX670 and latest core i5, Can run pretty much any game but I don't feel that happy doing so.

Creativity is always hurt when you have resources overflowing.
This is by faar the best advice related to procrastination! Man where were you when i made thread about procrastination?

As for organizing stuff. I am a VERY organized person when it comes to setting things. All my 'wardrobe', my drawers, cupboards are organized excellently. Also, you should check out my computer. My desktop and Hard disk is organized perfectly with each item in its respectable folder. So, it's VERY clean. I can never focus if things are cluttered.
And keeping only 3 games at a time is hard work. o_O
By organizing i meant that if a person have lot going then it become difficult on important things so organizing helps. If you want to do several things then narrow them to 1 or 2 and do them one by one.

Best way is that you spend 15-30 minutes daily before sleeping to think what you should do tomorrow. Write those tasks in your mobile or even paper and try hard to get those done. If your case, pick 1 or 2 skill and start practicing on that. Once you get a grip on them then you have an option to move on to other targets. I personally use this method to get my tasks done as i am very very busy person. :)

Now Rapchik Killer is talking exactly about what I want!

You are half way through. Now I have a task for you, Write down your interests on a page, and tick only 3 of them, don't overthink it, Just select those and write them here.
I don't even have to think. I can directly tell three things I want to do most! That is game programming, drawing, amazing computer knowledge, in order.

No, you are still confused. Ok let me get you clear options. Remember you have to choose only one from these.

1. Game Art Design ( Concept Art, Graphics, Modeling characters, Environments etc )
2. Game Programming ( Engine programming, Engine design, Game testing etc )

Choose only one. Computer knowledge is based on experience, not learned.

I would never advise you to give up on any of your goals. What you suffer from is lack of discipline; I know this, because I suffer severally from it as well. Organize your life and more than half of your issues will be solved.

No, he is trying to accomplish all of these at once. But in reality one skill leads to another. A good programming skill will translate into game programming and good drawing/painting will be a concept artist, graphics, modelling etc.

Basics are must otherwise lack of them will be evident from final work limiting the quality of end results.

Did anybody notice what @Chandoo posted? Thats reality! Wait till reality hits you in the jaw!

I have one suggestion for you. Everyone goes through this phase you just have to make a concrete vision in your head and follow that.

Yeah, remember kids, when you're in college or uni you'll have grand ambitions, and its not like i'm old as fuck (im 25 btw), but the reality when you enter the job market is that life is boring as fuck :p

its good to have goals, but you'll find very little time to accomplish anything else besides your main job. I'm currently in the process of applying for higher education abroad and i'm finding it ridiculously hard to make enough time to take some classes, I'm giving my GRE exam around the 24th.

Very awesome post bro.

I agree with your comment fully. He has too much to do (MashaAllah) but he has too little time (academics in one field takes 4-5 years). So he is left thinking what he should do and thats why he can't decide. :)

And that's why I told him to become disciplined and organized. One thing at a time would be great. There no harm in doing things simultaneously. For example, I write and draw and concentrate on my studies at the same time. If I can do it - even though I am very very ill-disciplined - I'm sure anyone who organizes his life can.
