I have an old Philips Tv that supports 1080p through HDMI very well in Normal boot up but doesnt show the SAFE MODE at all. It says Change source resolution. Thus I was unable to update from USB and booting in normal mode i found that if you keep the USB with the firmware plugged in and update the PS4 from the settings menu it will acquire the file from the USB and not download it off Internet. So you wouldnt have to wait for 330 MB of download 
The next day: I logged in my Ps4 and started to download the AC4 patch and the speeds were back to Crap, although the Ps4 was is still in DMZ and the ports are still the same. I have no idea whats going on .
