Somewhere on Internet
OOohhh I'm not the only one! I reverted back to PTCL about five days back (last Friday), and yes - it is unbelievable how I find their hard product much better than Nayatel (which has a far, far better soft product - things that I don't use).

PTCL charges for phone and TV in that price. 400 rupees analog + 400 for HD (which means 800 per month) + 25Mbps for 2800 = 3600 per month (excluding tax, and assuming you don't use their landline). On PTCL, you get the same thing for ~3400. Nayatel would be a bit cheaper if you opt for 20 Mbps.

However, if you only take Nayatel's internet ONLY, then it's definitely cheaper. PTCL doesn't offer single play.

I have the MiBox S - I didn't want to purchase additional equipment from Nayatel, so I used their app. SD channels were fine, but HD channels were out of sync (and that appeared to be a transmission issue since it didn't happen with all HD channels). I didn't complain - I used their free trial to see if I needed it or not. The number of channels you got were not bad - but tbh, I have an IPTV subscription with channels from all over the world + TV guide + some catchup on some, so...that's what I did (my own IPTV + Nayatel + phone).

With PTCL, I couldn't care less about their TV, but it's there :/

NOW - when Nayatel would route the traffic on PIE, everything worked (almost) fine. The instant a data packet goes through Transworld, it would get choked. Testing with another forum member seemed to hint that TW has blocked UDP packets for some ports - but TCP would work. Wireguard = UDP. IKEv2 = UDP. Both are faster than OpenVPN's UDP... but they're all blocked unless you use a standard port. And their changing policy put me off (they first switched IPs, not subnets... then they said I need Optimus... then they said I needed static IP (which was far, far too expensive since they only give that to corporates)). So - unfortunately, Nayatel is not for us - not because of Nayatel, but because of Transworld.

Oh, and PTCL tends to load Telegram's website more often than not (but not always).

But where PTCL sucks? Their customer service feels like you're talking to a robot. Nayatel's like you're talking to a human. That, unfortunately, didn't matter much for me since I don't chat up their reps and want a working service.

VDSL isn't that bad. Sure the uploads are halved but... I don't know what your requirements are for uploading, but it's not that bad. Stormfiber, I read in another thread, is back on TW so good luck with VPNs. Unless you figure a way around the block.
yes, VPNs are starting to hit or miss on stormfiber also, I use windscribe and sometimes the selected server completely stops working, mainly happening to Europe and USA region servers, south Asia servers work fine to date.

yes the pricing is the next big step ptcl can lower to give fiber connections to all existing and new customers. i am in rawalpindi and they changed me from adsl copper to fiber and now i get symmetric downloads and uploads and that too on par with my download speed i.e both 15mbps. i know better late than never but i would advise anyone to ask for fiber as soon as it becomes available in ur area. i waited 3 years of fiber then shifted to naya chor and then back to ptcl when they came rushing to my door to install fiber for 1500rs not the 14680 i gave to naya chor just to find out that what i needed the most wont work. absolute disgrace of a company they should know better

Yep - this was my experience with TW. Singapore and Malaysian servers would work, but Europe or the US? Not a chance.

Unless you configure your own VPS server and what-not, it wasn't worth it (and having your own VPS server means being bound by one location - so it's not useful to unblock content from other regions served by Netflix et al)

Which modem/ONT did PTCL give you?

I have the Huawei one (similar to the one Nayatel gave). They've blocked off the DNS settings, and I can't find the actual admin user/pass. I read online that a specific account may be blocked when the router connects to the network, and the only way to bypass that is to disconnect the fiber from the ONT, reboot the ONT (while it's disconnected), then log in. But I don't know what the super admin user/pass are for the Huawei ONT.

The old Huawei one had telecomadmin and admintelecom, which gave me full access.

Oh, and Nayatel's ONTs are wifi 6. PTCL's are wifi 5. Both have 2.4G and 5G signals.

they gave me the ZTE F670L and yes its very basic dual band ont plus as u said they have blocked off or basically hidden all the settings like dns nat portforwarding dmz firmware update etc which is silly tbh. i dont know the login credentials that can give me full access to the ont and i would like that bro! if u find it plz share here as well. i am sick of all these blocks for no apparent reasons.
i called them and asked for original zte firmware and they obviously declined the trouble is i searched zte official forums and many people have asked for their firmwares but they dont give it to users they say ask ur provider. so no luck there as well. if u find a way to bypass this on huawei plz look for the zte one for me as well.

I am currently using the Youtube app and IPTV Smarters on PTCL Smart TV. It runs fine for the most part, both of them run quite well. I wanted to ask whether I should go for the MI TV Stick or even the MI TV Box? What will be the added benefits besides more storage space?

How did you get them to install on PTCL's box?
You just connect the box to the WiFi and download Aptoid TV app from the browser and you can download the apps from it. Official YT TV app doesn't work though but there is another unofficial one called Smart YT TV which works perfectly.

i have used that setup myself and bricked 1 device as well LoL! it works but honestly it was too slow to handle any decent iptv app as 1 gb ram on that ptcl smart tv device is too low to handle anything else. i bought a firestick 4k max and am using tivimate pro and what an app that is! perfect for iptv

I have a Mi Box S (not the best device, but it was the only Android TV certified device apart from the Shield) - and I've been using that for some years. It does most things that you can expect from a low-end box, and IPTV too.

Speaking of which, what app do you use to watch IPTV? I have Tivimate, but it's a bit buggy now.

Anyone else experiencing issues on VDSL recently? For a little over a week now I can't get consistent DL speeds on 15mbps (it struggles to even hit 8) and web surfing is noticeably slower too. My SNR stats drop randomly throughout the day. I switched to VDSL back in late September last year and it's been pretty much flawless until now all of a sudden

yes I can also confirm my SNR margins are also affected from January don't know what is going on they were above 300 till December but now randomly drops from 90 to 150. I complained about this and now they are stable but not in that 300 range.

I just got an automated call from 1218 saying there will be maintenance work at my area tomorrow night and that I may have to face disruption. No mention of the timeframe (because it could be the whole day, or a few minutes).

On the pretext of "uPgRaDeS"

Yup it is slow as hell, even the YT app started lagging. I have bought the Google Chromecast with Google TV and it is quite good and powerful for its price.

I am also using Tivimate Pro and I think it has the best interface amongst others. Another decent option is IPTV Smarters but that does not allow to load multiple playlists at once like Tivimate. BTW, which IPTV provider/service are you using? I have Dream8k and Opplex but they lag a lot sometimes during peak hours.

So I received a call on my cellphone in the afternoon from 01218 and the lady offered me 50mbps @ 3600 without tax. I was busy in some work so I told her that I will look into it later. Now I am willing to go for it but the issue is no one (PTCL live chat, helpline, FB) is acknowledging that the offer exists against my landline. They all are straight up denying that no such promo exist on my number. What am I supposed to do now? Was it only a one-time chance to accept it lol?

They have a customer retention department (forgot the exact name). That department works in isolation from the rest of the contact center and anything they do isn't generally jotted down in the notes of the other calls, nor cal 1218 transfer the call there.

Unfortunately, you'll just have to wait it out. Or you could try emailing them (show them the screenshots as proof that you received a call) so they can trace the call and see if that can stroke your luck.

Yeah I guess I will have to wait till they call me again which sucks. Or they might actually reduce the price of the packages for all the customers which they usually do after such promos.
Also, I asked about your IPTV service a few replies back, I have actually tried a few cheap ones but they all seem to buffer here and there.

UPDATE: So a callback was arranged yesterday by the live chat agent and today I received the fall from 01218 and I have upgraded the package at a much discounted rate. (50mbps @ 3700)

What package were you on before? They have new packages on ptclflashfiber.com and old ones on PTCL.com.pk - and I'm on 20Mbps (more is always nicer for a little fee).

About IPTV services - depends on the service itself. Some have no issues (like the one I have, but might stumble at exceptionally rare times), some may stumble because of a network in between (it's the inter-net) and buffering can be overcome by using a VPN, and some are just atrocious to begin with (their distribution is choked).

I don't watch Smart TV anymore - it's there (as a backup) but the main Pakistani channels we (my dad) watch are on the IPTV sub, and some links can be found from the internet for other channels... And most of the western channels are already present. Only issue is that streams are delayed by a minimum of 30 seconds (so if you break your fasts via the TV, forget about it). PTCL doesn't have this big a delay (it's usually anywhere between a few seconds to 15 seconds for international channels, owing to satellite transmission) but for the few channels they rebroadcast via third party/pirate IPTV services (e.g. Sky Movies), you'll have the delay.

I was on 30mbps package before (the one mentioned on flash fiber website) and now getting 50mbps for only 500 additional charges.
Can you share the name of the IPTV you are using right now and also it's seller if possible. I am only interested in sports channels for the most (BeIN and BT sports). I am ok with the delay, just want lag free experience.
