It took 4 hours to activate.
After activation it connected to Onics network but when i checked available networks it was actually renamed Ufone 4g. Then i checked their apn settings they are using ufone settings without any change. Netmonster app also shows ufone LTE band 3.
I was very excited about ONIC but after this all excitement went in vain. They are copying circle life UI in their application but if this is just a sub brand of Ufone then I'm sure it's not a worth buying option.
They are trying to gain popularity among users later they'll announce to be part of Ufone..

... you guys know how MVNOs operate, right?

They buy network access (for a cheaper price because operators want to generate revenue) from the incumbents (since they don't own any spectrum nor physical towers).

The main operator gets to have their idle capacity utilized. The smaller operator gets to sub-let the network space to others. The phone connects to the main operator's towers (it can be fixed to one network, it could be with multiple operators - depends on the business model of the MVNO).

Main operators sometimes de-prioritize the smaller operator where congestion appears. The actual routing of the traffic is often through the MVNO (as in, they may share the physical antennas but the primary operator forwards the traffic to the MVNO, so billing, network features etc. and the core are all different).

Smaller operator can offer services for cheaper as they usually lack a physical store presence, do things electronically, and are able to compete with different packages/pricing.

You can always read up on MVNOs on wikipedia. As for VoLTE etc, that depends on the MVNO - Ufone only provides the signals. Bas!

Think of it like roaming on Ufone's network.

So I had an idle ufone sim. Request for porting on Onic on their app. They are saying that I do not need to sms MNP to 667 and forward message to 76333 for porting. Ufone numbers will be ported to onic by just bmv. I believe porting will also be instant

its not MVNO its a sub-brand. MVNO is not something PTA or Pakistani teleco want or any outside telecom company is looking for, as licence fee for MVNO costs $5 Million. Entrance in MVNO is not possible due to ridiculous mvno licence fee and low ARPU. PTA and other teleco made sure that MVNO setup never happen with entry difficulties they set up. Ufone's sub-brand Onic is launched by circles.co and Etisalat JV. 1 Etisalat and 1 Circles top executive and 1 ex jazz executive are running this Brand. Sub-brand need no licence. its just a marketing gimmick to lure new users or other telecom customers in dry telecom market where revenue is low. it will eventually merge into ufone. so it is natural for it to use ufone network. its digital only app based service and support.where ufone coverage is good cheap internet packages will help.
Circles.co is MVNE ,ufone opted for circles Singapore as they provided all technical mumbo jumbo so ufone does not have to work from scratch. they created app for onic, backend etc and marketing guide. so ufone got everything off the shelf

This is why I ported my Ufone sim instead of buying new one. Nothing lost

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
