Only Jazz and Zong are using 1800 MHz 2G here in Faisalabad. Zong is using 15 MHz out 16 MHz for 4G while Jazz is still on Warid's 5 MHz 4G frequency. Jazz has merged 2G spectrum here and using 2G on its old 6 MHz spectrum (No more Warid 2G). Let's see what will happen to their 1800 MHz 2G once they deployed 15 MHz 4G here.
P.S= they are testing upgrade of new spectrum here atm.
I have failed to understand why Telenor and Ufone are not using their most precious 1800 MHz spectrum at all. Ufone even didn't refarmed 900 MHz for 3G here and their 3G is still on 5 MHz of 2100 MHz only.
Since no body uses Ufone's 3G, and they are not using 1800 MHz for 2G as well, they can very well launch 4G on 5 MHz of 1800 MHz. But I believe they hardly have any investment.
Most pathetic approach comes from Telenor. Due to lack of DC-HSPA+ their 3G is still struggling even on 2 different spectrums. And due to 5 MHz only their 4G also doesn't making any impact. Since they are not using 1800 MHz 2G at all, I wonder why don't they make carrier aggregation for 4G with 5 MHz of 1800 MHz with previously deployed 5 MHz of 850 MHz.
They have many other options as well, like 10 MHz DC-HSPA plus on 850 MHz and 10 MHz CA 4G on 5 MHz of 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz each. Or they can restrict their 3G on 5 MHz of 2100 MHz only and deploye 4G on 15 MHz, 10 MHz and 5 MHz of 850 MHz and 1800 MHz respectively.
This will instantly make their 4G fat to fit. They have the investment and they have the resources (spectrum), I don't know who the f*** stopping them to improve.
