I was, initially, but haven't since a week or so (as in, I don't get timeouts anymore).

Haven't paid close attention to it lately, but I remember I faced timeouts quite a lot when I ported in. I don't, anymore.

[MENTION=63376]shaheerk[/MENTION] how much did u get 5X and howz the experience?

Mine's the 32 GB version, and I paid around $475 (I think $435 for the phone +$20 approx for the tax +$20 for expedited shipping).

I don't remember the exact breakup, but its on Google's website (you'll need a VPN to access that website). They also gave me a $50 rebate as Play Store credit.

How do I like it? Well, I wanted the 6P but they weren't shipping it when I went there, and needed to take a decision quick before I left back for Pakistan, so I settled for the 5x.

I was on the edge (as in, even though my preference was 6P, I was torn between this and the 5x) cause of the screen, although the hardware is slightly better (same exact camera module though, but the 5x has an LCD, which is better than AMOLED, IMO, then there's the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 in the 6p, but then it has a bad rap...)

In the end, I opted for the 5x cause I needed a phone. Would I switch to the 6P? I don't know...maybe. Not sure. Am I happy with the 5x? Yep!

The only shortcomings with the 5x, in my opinion, is that it has a single, front facing mono loudspeaker (the 6p has stereo speakers) (there are mods to work around this though). The sound is not boom sound type, but it is plenty loud, and honestly, its not a beat box, so I don't care about the sound quality from the loudspeaker - it rings, its audible, and that's what phone speakers should do. The rest is just premium. I just hoped it would be stereo.

Also, they say the speakers on the 6 are better than the 6p... I haven't used the 6, and only saw it the day before yesterday, and saw that it's not too big for my hands... But I've bought this now.

The other shortcoming - and this is software related - is that it gets sluggish if the phone isn't rebooted in around a week or 10 days... After the reboot, it begins to fly again. Cache clearing won't help (from within Android, that is... And if you go into recovery to clear the cache, well - its unneeded, you waste time, and the phone has technically been rebooted). The way to observe this is that the phone begins to jerk around - its like the processor begins to hang and stuff. If somebody is calling you, the phone won't be as responsive and stuff. The camera either won't load, or will take much longer to load. The only fix is to reboot (I suppose we have mini computers in our pockets...) And then it begins to fly again. I don't quite know for sure how many days it requires for it to kick in. I did notice that it happened on my Nexus 5 as well, and it could very well be cause I have the Moto 360 connected to it (the companion Android Wear app is required)... That actually could be a reason, but I'm not really sure. Some people face this lag, others don't. Some of them use Snapchat, some have the Android Wear app installed, some have this lag on Samsung phones too... So as I said, its software related...and is fixed by a simple reboot.

RAM is 2GB - I now realize it'd be nice to have a phone with 3GB of ram, but 2GB is perfectly fine (the phone doesn't "refresh" much often with multiple apps, although an additional ram would be helpful in terms of multitasking...the only time you'll tell that the phone is refreshing apps at times is when you've got multiple heavy games open that consume CPU power, else, you can't tell). Also, they say that the RAM speed on the 6p is faster (you save one second!).

Overall, I think, for my needs, I'll give it a 9/10 (I took one star off cause of the constant need to reboot once every week or so).

Ooooh - before I forget, the 5X that is sold in the US tends to be more compatible with the global LTE bands than the 6p - there's a better overlap of LTE bands between the 5x versions than the 6P versions... I don't know why, but this was another reason why I was gravitating towards the 5x.

Dont go for 6 go for 6s cz apple has slowed down their phones pre 6s with ios 9. I had to change my 6plus to 6splus cz lack of reponsiveness, browser refreshing damn everything got slower with ios 9 update the other phone with ios 8 was snappy.

How's the battery life?

Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
MUCH better than the Nexus 5. My screen on time, if on 4g and WiFi mixed, is around 3 hours, and sometimes goes up to 3.5 hours. I do stream/play (cached/uncached) music for around 45 min or so on my commute back from work, so that has an impact on the screen on time too.

I also don't let the battery deplete, so this is the time when the battery goes around the 15-20% mark.

No wireless charging (the N5 had it, but I've never used it) and has a different usb port, so getting working USB-C cables is a pain (Ali Express has them, but only some sellers have compatible/proper cables as per the USB-C specs)... But the outfit charges very fast, so that's not an issue. Oh, and the cable's reversible too, so less fumbling.

Probably, I would recommend you a Note 5 :)

I typically never recommend Samsung phones cause they're very difficult to troubleshoot. And they may have 3gb of RAM, of which, the bloated OS consumes about 2.6Gb of it... The phone (this is the S6 I'm talking about BTW) doesn't get slow, but don't expect to be able to do proper multitasking on it without the phone closing apps in the background. And this is written everywhere on the internet.

Also, their UI is anything but user friendly (granted, this is subjective... But it makes troubleshooting difficult whenever I've had to deal with Samsung phones). The only nice thing is the multi window - which the LG G4 and V10 have, IIRC, and if you edit the build.prop on Marshmallow, you can get it on stock Android too. But I can't say that LG uses worse colors, despite TouchWiz looking cartoonish. S-voice? S-health? S-books? S-hit...

That's my take. Before the Nexus, I was going towards the Moto X 2015 phones... But then, Lenovo happened, and Moto's track record came into question (speedy updates for all phones), so I stuck to my N5 then... And then, the 5x came (cause the 6p wouldn't come [emoji14] )

I'm not saying Moto is a bad company - all I'm saying is that their sponsors/parent company's lazy repute seems to be creeping into Motorola ever since the purchase took place (and people are sad about this, since Motorola did several things differently - one being speedy updates, the other being bringing stock Android to their phones). That said, I have the Moto 360 v2 but since the software is Google-controlled (largely) on Android Wear, it's not a big issue.

How abt the Nexus 6?? Bytes is selling it for 25k used... Looks a good deal

Sent from my X9006
Since the new Nexuses ("Nexii"...?) came, the 6 lost its price significantly, and people do consider it a good buy.

Below is a wall of text that I've swiped from my phone, while lying down in my bed, pretending to be asleep (but woken up at 8.30 cause I had to go to the toilet, and haven't slept since then, but have been lying down), so please excuse the typos.

Here's what I'd tell you:
- it's encrypted out of the box. They say that it was slow then, but got better with updates (slow as in the speed, not hangs). You'll have to check that out.

- the camera is decent - F/2.0 lens, but the sensor will obviously not be as good as the newer phones. Stick to HDR+ in low light, and you'll see that does wonders. HDR+ doesn't make a HUGE difference in the 5x/6p cause the sensor allows for more light anyway. In essence, it's not a camera with bling, but the Nexus has very decent output (and I'm basing this on my Nexus 5's experience, which was older than the 6, and if that phone could have good results...). It can generally rival the iPhone and S6 in numerous cases, so don't worry.

- the screen of the 6 is AMOLED. I don't know where you stand on this issue, because although the colors may "pop" and you get blacker blacks, the whites are not exactly white when the screen is dim (they're tainted-ish in low brightness cases). On full brightness, everything's good (except the battery, of course :) ). Also, because the black pixels are off when the screen displays blacks, you get to save some power (which means if your display shows a lot of color, the savings won't be there, since the pixels won't be off). And these screens are prone to burn in, and are not as bright as LCDs. With LCDs, the colors are more natural (you can tweak colors in AMOLED too to make it look natural - it's just a bit more saturated out of the box) and the whites are white, but the blacks will NEVER be as deep (nor can you save as much power vs. AMOLED, cause LCDs consume a static amount of power regardless of the colors, at a given brightness... And the maximum brightness is higher than AMOLED screens, in general). Some prefer LCD, some like AMOLED. Read up on it and decide.

Not everyone faces burn in though - some do, some don't. It depends on that specific screen and your luck. There are ways to refuse burn ins, they say, but I don't fall in that camp. Perhaps you're going to be luckier than I was...but heyy, you're getting the phone for cheap, so it's a reasonable tradeoff!

- I don't know your comfort level with big phones, so can't say much on the size. My hands are generally big (I'm 6 ft tall) and when I held the phone, yes it was big, but I was able to swing my thumb from the bottom of the screen to the top while holding the phone with the same hand... So that was relief for me (that's how I check - I should be able to press the back button and pull down the notification bar as well with the same finger, and I could, so yay!)

- software wise? You'll be getting updates from Google for at least a year or maybe two. If not, Cyanogenmod is ready for you. Stock Android is fine, and OEM skins tend to bog down their phones (they may have a few useful features like the camera app, but like LG, they'll slap cartoonish colors, which makes me cringe). You can get alternatives from the market (e.g. different camera apps, double tap to wake, launcher things etc.), but they may not always be as good as OEM versions since those guys generally invest in these options and what not. Still, I'd prefer stock Android cause of zero bloat (in general) and the clean visuals.

- root? Easy on Nexus. Nightmare on the others. I use a few apps which require rooting, and can't live without one of them (an intelligent automatic audio volume leveller - Viper4Android).

- you'll have to check on the LTE bands... Don't expect 4g to work in the USA for a phone purchased here, but make sure it works in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Or just make sure it'll work in Pakistan [emoji14] 3G will work everywhere around the world.

- it has dual stereo speakers, which is a HUGE bonus for two reasons: my 5x doesn't have it, and they say it sounds better than the dual stereo speakers on the 6p.

- the camera records sounds in mono. Even the 5x and 6p, which apparently have 3 microphones (an overkill), records in $&#@ing mono sound!!! Get a mod to enable stereo recording (something I have to do on the 5x, but did on the 5) on the stock camcorder, or use another camcorder app. The mod works with the 5, 6, 5x and supposedly 6p.

- "Bugs? You tell me" is a phrase you'll see on just about every custom ROM on XDA. It's also become a joke on Reddit. If you want to mod your phone, you're better off installing Xposed Mod within stock Android, then downloading any compatible mods with it. Some people go for a ROM change, but I can't be bothered cause when Google releases the factory images, I can quickly apply them (I don't wait for the ota) and show off to my peers that I have the newest update and fixes. After applying the factory images (without factory resetting), you can apply the mods again through recovery and stuff... So you don't lose the stock OS, and get to customize it as much as you want. I've gone beyond this customization stage, and would rather not have to tinker with it much (except for rooting) because it took too much of my time and I couldn't decide what I wanted, nor do I want to put in as much effort as I used to. Xposed reduces this barrier, but I'm too lazy for Xposed now as well lol.

- going to root? It should be the VERY FIRST THING YOU DO AFTER GETTING YOUR PHONE, because it requires erasing your phone and factory resetting it fully. And worried you'll not get the ota? Just download the factory images and apply from there - it's what I do. It's much quicker that way.

- the phone has on-screen buttons, no capacitive buttons. I prefer these as they look more elegant and take less physical space (see how close the screen is to the edge of the phone on the Nexus 6), and hide when required. And with AMOLED screens, be careful since this area, as well as the notifications, are more prone to burn in (quick fix: don't let the phone display one color for long times in these areas, which also means don't let it display black with contrasting colors for long periods of times... Revolve! Use different colors, and don't worry about saving battery... Just dim the screen for that).

For the price, it's really good bang for the buck. Nexus is easy to maintain (as long as you reboot it when you see it getting slow) and easy to update. And easy to troubleshoot (help pages mostly revolve around Nexus phones, so that's not an issue).

My only beef is with AMOLED screens in general (unless the recent generations have fixed it... My last AMOLED device, for context, was the Galaxy Nexus, and while I saw the burn in and discolorations, my friend with the same phone, in the same office, didn't have that problem!), and hence, my fear.

Wait - I think I just gave my unbiased opinion :/ sorry. But go for it!

LOL! Guilty as charged!

I have noted that my patience for writing longer things on the 5x increased vs. The 5 - perhaps it's cause of the (slightly) bigger screen size.

The same goes for when upgrading from the Galaxy Nexus > Nexus 4 > Nexus 5, but this was, by far, the longest chunk I've written that I can recall. Of course, I made a few edits after submitting, but it was within the same timeframe (and not a day later when I made the edits), so... Yeah... :)

Phil should be held responsible for this shitfest too, just like Sarah, but it's highly likely that these decisions are coming from Satya. And this isn't even the end of it. More closures are coming.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

I just want to say a giant F*** Y**! to Microsoft. THEY'VE F***ED UP BIG TIME this time.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
