Temperature on R9 390.

Just got a sweet deal on Gigabyte G1 R9 390 for 38000 which is cheaper than all variants. Have no shutdown problems so far as mentioned on newegg, but the temps are worrying me. In lahore current ambient is like 37°C average with Ac on it goes to 27 but my gpu is idle at 60 °C and after 30 mind of GTAV ultra-High (Runs at avg 65 Fps) it gets to 86°C ! Which is way too much! Shall I get more case fans (Only using one) or try to send it back and get a replacement as it is in warranty (Gigabyte warranty is one year 1 think).

I havent used high end amd gpus but 86'C is not a worrying range....not even 95'C....

I would ofcourse add more fans to it...help rudce the load on the gpu fans...and better ventilation of gpu and mobo etc..

Your Idle temp is definitely high. Use MSI afterburner for Fan control and program the curve to hit 100% rpm when temp hits 60°C. I am currently using Sapphire r9 390 with idle temp of 48 °C and max 77 °C. My room ambient temps are from 36 to 39 °C.

After adjusting the fan curves the idle situation is a lot better 49°C but he'll I saw a look at my cpu temps and it was like 80 at full load, stock cooler really doesn't do much on 4770K I guess I'll get a new case fan and thermal compound asap before anything fries.

I had a stock cooler on 4770 non k and i have a lot of case fans and had same problem as you nothing helped until i bought a cm hyper 212x since that day temps never gotten past 55c at full load change your heatsink asap its the best way to solve the problem also get some case fan at least two(it'll help with the gpu temp) 1 with intake through the front the other exhaust out the back look for better cfm in a fan and if the noise doesnt bother you get higher rpm fans like cooler master sickle flow.

bro to be honest....
u should....keep the case open in summers...
nothing else...
and add more fans if u can.
keep the case ventilated..
the issue will be resolved..
if temps touch 90..
u should get it replaced...!!!

Opening is not the best solution though, dirt, dust and other obstructions such as hair can literally be a lot more troublesome to deal with. But I van show my sweet cable management and LED swag tho cause I do not own a windowed case yet.

AMD R series graphics card also go hot if connection is made via molex to PCI converter cable instead of a direct connection from PSU.

I purchased a Gigabyte R9 390 myself but sold it within days because i found out that there was an architectural flaw on R9 series made specially by Gigabyte, thats

why it was cheaper then others.

Temps are not that bad..
if u use msiafter burner and keep the fan speed till 100..
u should see a clear drop in temps..
keep the case ventilated...
and whn i ment keep the case open means that u keep it open during gaming..
than close it..
that what i do..
and i have kept this practice for years in summers...!!!
should really help...!!!!
