@lucebuce GGs man. nice FANG, im glad ur playing him i need to learn the matchup more. That was the first time i played saw FANG in action, Damn His normals are insane..
Yeah, the Necalli v Fang matchup is not easy for FANG lol. Your charge move and v-skill can really mess up the zoning part. Granted I still need to work with him, not fully comfortable with his buttons. I've mainly been playing him and Bison, at least until Guile comes out.

@irontriggor kay sath khelnay say behtar hai banda controller apnay sir pay tour day :) allah ka banda yeh nai kehta reham mein aik round jeetnay day so humara bhi dil karay khelnay ka
Well... this is what you call tough love...
Me... I was just happy to take him down to 75% of his health before I get stunned...

A good player teaches you to unlearn bad habits... telegraphed jump ins and poorly placed fireballs and such...

the in-game system to check whether someone is online or offline is bugged. It showed like 7 people from my favourites list as online even though only 1 of them actually was.
This is my experience too. A friend who was offline on PSN was shown to be in menu or something in the favorites list. So it doesn't actually show if the person is online or not.

Offline people show as in "Menu"... To be absolutely sure check whether the status of that person changes to something else (ranked, training lounge etc)...

Reading this thread reassures me that being unable to play the game until the end of March is a blessing in disguise
It kinda is. Hopefully all these issues will be sorted out till then. Normally if a game has a bad launch, I'm just content with waiting but the thing is that this game is SO GOOD. Every single match is always fun and entertaining. Which makes the issues even harder to have to deal with :(

Amen to that. Which makes it harder to not play, even though you really WANT to but you know you are just going to be disappointed after you log in. Here is hoping they sort out their issues after tonights maintenance, otherwise im going to spam their twitter pages like anything...

I am glad I am not the only one with this issue, lol.

so ill save you all some valuable time, the maintenance did absolutely nothing so dont waste Ur time trying to find matches ranks or casuals i qued at 10 am, took a shower ate breakfast its 10 40 am and still searching for opponent
i played battlelounges with some random last night race to 5 with 5 rounds each played over an hour im ashamed that i didnt knew the country name of the flag but it was constant 2 bars, the game felt like 30fps but no input lag or anything he had a 19k rating and im over 100k now since i havent been able to play lately my god it felt satisfying playing for over an hour with him and winning in the end with 5-4
but when i saw 0 lp and no rating improvement in the end it broke my heart Dastidood learning is not getting ur ass handed over to u 10 rounds in a row its getting better 1 step at a time improving ur lp or rating step by step learning from ur small mistakes and keep imrpoving step by step learning along the way from people who are at ur rating or a little better and then when u meet people like irontriggor at some higher ranking then thats fun that you have accomplished something along the way and now ur ready to fight him and are his near his rank
hes so good he beats the shit out of u (atleast thats what he did to me ) 10 matches ina row
point is game is 0 fun without ratings/rewards/progression ill keep the disc till the march patch when alex comes and if its not fixed by then ill trade it for darksouls 3
the core gameplay is rock solid , ive said it alot of times but i just cant seem to get people who defend this half baked unfinished bugfest piece of garbage . rant over!

After the maintenance, I did get my first ever match, lol. I actually have no idea what type of match it was since I just made it to start matchmaking and then was out for a while and returned to a You Lost screen with the opponent using Rashid :p

I'd call it progress, I guess.

Look at it this way... playing against people far better than you would result in losing you every time (that's a fact, a better player always wins) but you will get to know the matchup... you'll know the wakeup shenanigans of opponent (allowing you to block better on wakeup)... you'll know which moves of yours are unsafe (forcing you NOT to throw these moves recklessly)... you'll get to know which characters have answer to your fireballs and at what range (this will improve your fireball spacing)...

Best of all, when you do play an opponent of your level, you'll be easily able to beat him/her (because you practiced with the best).

I played against @irontriggor yesterday. We only played only two matches because of my shit connection, but I learned a valuable lesson even in the first few seconds into the game. Do NOT throw full screen fireballs at Necalli as he has a great answer to them. Even when I lost the match miserably I learnt a new (and important) thing about the match... This could never have happened if I had played a poor Necalli. I might have won but I would have learnt nothing...

Trust me the feeling you'll have after winning just one match against a player like Irontriggor (which is possible) is better than all the LP's and BP's you'll acquire... This is because you have won against him by consistently analyzing his gameplay, not by some random turn of events...

I sincerely hope you'll give this game more chances... It might be the best competitive gaming genre in the world imo.

EDIT: In order to support all of these claims, shamelessly plugging my best SFIV match

(after losing to the guy 8 times in a row)... It was 2 in the morning and I had to stifle a scream when the match ended. Best moment for me in a videogame ever. I learnt so much from those 10 matches...

So, after much research and Abuses will lead to baning on steam discussions. I have come to the conclusion that matchmaking is completely BROKEN for some countries, specifically for PC. It is not a PTCL issue at all! Capcom's fault through and through. If someone is able to get Ranked/Casual matches on Nayatel or other ISP on the PC version, please let me know otherwise.
Here's the steam discussion I've been following. It has grown exponentially, but Capcom still has not taken notice. It is still totally F-ed even after the latest 6-hour downtime.
SFV SERVER BROKEN :: Street Fighter V General Discussions
Please go here and Abuses will lead to ban and moan some more so that Capcom, or at least some games websites, take notice.
I've been playing some battle lounges with friends on steam, but I am seriously doubtful that Capcom will ever fix this as made apparent by their complete lack of response to user problems. Sigh, they completely exploited our love of Street Fighter for this load of crap! Can't believe I even paid $25 for this junk.
Don't get me wrong. The new fighting system is amazing, the moves feel much more smoother to pull off and attacks/combos have more weight to them, but without the online component working properly, this game is dead in the water.
Anyway, would love to play some more people in Pakistan. Please add me on steam and with Fighter ID: xstrike9999. I usually play over the weekends and usually try to get in a few matches when I get home early in the morning at 5.

Don't give more importance to Ranked because it is not worth it... The fun of street fighter in part comes from improving at it and playing ~10 matches consecutively against a player in lounge is the best way to do it...
It's a valid complaint that the ranked is not working as promised but you DO have an alternative (unlike me) to enjoy the game. You don't need a bunch of numbers and letters or grade to make you feel good at the game...

Don't think learning a high damage combo would help you get better at the game if you can't create an opportunity to land it in the first place... First improve your fundamentals and then go from there...

If you have time then watch a SFIV match of Alex Valle and Daigo Umehara... It is a good example of two world level players playing the game just using normals and fireballs... No high damaging combos, no throw setups, no frame traps, nothing. Just wholesome, clean SF fun...

I do realize that it is not that important, but it is still something that we PAID for and thus not unreasonable to expect it to work out of the box. Also, lounges are not the fix for it either since there are usually lounges with crappy pings in the list whenever you search with no way to sort them by connection strength. You also get tired playing the same people from your friends list or from PG and Ranked/Casual is a way to take a break from that monotony. The numbers don't matter at all, at least to me!
Would love to play you sometime. I'd probably lose like crazy though! :D

That's a valid complaint (we DID pay for a good ranked match option). And I agree with you that an option to filter out poor connections from lounged would have been good.
I'm mostly talk and rarely walk the walk... But I'll be glad to hit you up for a lounge if I see you online... Apology in advance for my frequent disconnects, I never rage quit...
Also again a reminder to people... People who are off line show up as in menu in CFN...

"Our goal is to provide the best online experience for all users, and if you are not in a region that has a large number of users with stable connections it will take longer to find a suitable opponent. Again, we will continue to look at this issue and find ways to circumvent longer than intended wait times for matchmaking."
This part is what concerns me the most. Why has this changed from USFIV where there were no region restrictions? I was having perfectly fine matches in USFIV with people from Europe.
So, if it's a small country like Pakistan or some other smaller country with a low gaming population and even lower SFV players, we all wasted our money!?
This seems like something that should have been disclosed before the game was released!

Rank system in SF4 allowed boosters to rank up easily .. Random matchmaking in fighting games was first started by Namco in Tekken 6 and everyone loved it. After that People kept requesting capcom to add it in the SF4, like the online rematch option that we finally got in SFV. I see people complaining about not getting anymore matches and they are already near 2000LP, well my friend I didnt even get a single rank match and honestly I'm not bothered. Online Ranks mean absolutely nothing. I knw people who are obsessed by ranks and trust me its not the right way if you want to be a better players. Rank matches make you develop strange patterns that might help you online but offline you'll be wrecked. The only thing I hate atm is 1v1 lobbies .. Hate leaving someone to play another. Can't wait for 8-Man lobbies.

@All I think its about time all of our Fighter IDs should be posted on the 1st post of this thread.. Lets add each other and play long sets to improve. Learn matchups etc.

My Fighter ID= IRONTRIGGOR

@lucebuce GGs last night bro. Even though I didn't know a single thing about BISON, I must say your the only Pakistani player who impressed me. I'm glad your playing Bison and FANG .. needed the MU knowledge and gave me a reason to hit the training mode again.. Lets play a longer set today??..
