Got stormfiber installed yesterday. So far, I feel it's lacking overall in comparison to Fiberlink (!). I'm on a 30Mbit triple play package (although I asked them to skip the TV setup since I dont need it at this time) with a 3-month prepayment. Subscribed to them to test their service out and see if they could be a good replacement for my PTCL 8Mbit DSL.

I don't think I'll be able to get through a week with them though. Pings all around are absolutely terrible (read: garbage) which is surprising because Fiberlink manages to outperform in every aspect despite both ISPs buying their bandwidth from TW. Make sense to anyone?

I've had Wateen's fiber, it was good but way too overpriced. I've used Mobilink's fiber, again, not worth the money. Fiberlink is amazing except for when they have infrastructure downtimes, and PTCL is a great backup. I heard so much praise for Stormfiber, but in 24 odd hours of on and off testing, it feels disappointing at best.

Am I missing something?

You're missing absolutely nothing. If you got this connection for pings, look elsewhere imho. Pretty solid for streaming though. I'll give them that.

I concur! I've never experienced better streaming.

Not all over the place; terrible. This was yesterday, though. I suspect it was a temporary hiccup at the time because it's fair today. I'll keep monitoring.

And no, I did not get it for the pings/latency; the only game I play has P2P hosted lobbies. I'm trying to see if Stormfiber will work good as a backup to my Fiberlink, and if it's worth replacing my PTCL DSL.

It's been 3 days now, and imgur gifs and photos aren't working on my Stormfiber connection. Tried Google and open DNS, and it's the same. Anyone else facing this?

I am thinking of getting the fiber optic connection in model town, Lahore area. How much good is it when compared to stable PTCL connection I have already? Pings are same? Pings remain stable through out the day? Any throttling from ISP?

Any information other then the higher download and upload speeds to differentiate it from stable PTCL connection?
Because my Connection is stable and get stable gameplay pings, except for rush hour. Does storm fiber have rush hour problems as well?

I even sometimes get 275ms pings to Austin texas servers.

As compared to other isp's stormfiber is one of the most stable in terms of speed they are same as advertised. My package is 20mbps Speed test shows full 20 dl and up on most international servers as far as pings are concerned they are back to normal from past few days. Pings on most dubai servers are 130 ms germany 128 ms rest of the europe 140 ms where as this case is different for valve server where singapore is 100 ms while dubai is 40 to 50 ms

Time warner cable, Austin Texas || I get around 275~325ms depending on different timings of a day
Telenor Bulgaria, Sofia || I get around 275~325ms depending on different timings of a day
UPC Romania, Cluz || I get around 275~325ms depending on different timings of a day
Maidenhead, xilo || I get around 160~325ms depending on different timings of a day


These are places ptcl is giving me bad times wanted to test if your storm fiber is better.

Well their service IS superb. But lately I've been experiencing an issue with the pings on the Dubai server. They should be about 50-60ms, but its been a month now and the pings are a steady 110ms, and not showing any signs of decreasing, which is actually causing me a lot of pain. The pings sometimes do spike during peak hours as well, but thats something you should expect with most ISPs. Other than that I've had no trouble with them. All the other pings are fine, download speeds are fantastic and streaming is brilliant.

Same here, seems like PSN has banned a wide range of IPs used by Stormfiber lately. Such a bummer.
