If you are a fan of South Park even int he least, this is THE game for you. While being a fairly humerous and enjoyable RPG experience even on it's own merit, fans of the TV show will experience one of the best cases of "Fan service" till date.

The fact that it looks exactly like watching an episode of the show only helps it further. Voice acting, look, feel and every single aspect of the town is nailed to a T and the game deserves full marks in the presentation department.

Comparisons with SP: Stick of truth are naturally going to be drawn, and the good thing is, for me at least, it improves in nearly all aspects of the game. I wont go too much into detail regarding the story, but I will give you a "press release statement" so you get the overall narrative theme, " With crime on the rise in South Park, the streets have never been more dangerous. As the sun sets on the quiet Colorado town, CHAOS REIGNS AS the seedy underbelly of the city comes alive. The town needs new heroes to COME TO THE RESCUE. Eric Cartman seizes the opportunity to save the town and create the best superhero franchise ever, his own Coon and Friends, with himself, The Coon, as the leader. " I think this does injustice to the what actually goes on, since the game is eventually about the make believe plot line of coon and friends. From fighting paper dragons on the street and finding a hiding gerbil to ......well I wont spoil it...just know that its rated M for a fully justified reason, and not only for offensive jokes but even for some hidden meanings behind those jokes.

The cool thing is, the game isnt power hungry - so your normal mid range pc will probably handle it. With regards to gameplay, the new dynamic combat system offers new opportunities to manipulate time and space on the "battlefield" = town streets, and looting and crafting systems gives you the freedom to develop your powers as you progress through the game. Find loot hidden throughout the land and follow recipes to craft your own outrageous equipment to aid you in battle.

Its available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. In addition to the standard version, South Park: The Fractured But Whole will also be available in three special editions including the Gold Edition, Steelbook Gold Edition and Collector’s Edition. For a limited time - till Jan 31st 2018, anyone who purchases South Park: The Fractured But Whole will receive South Park: The Stick of Truth for free.

[h=2]South Park: The Fractured But Whole's fart-smelling peripheral is a sin against humanity[/h][h=3]The smell of utter despair is a lot like a fart[/h]

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is here at Gamescom 2016, as is a new torture device from Ubisoft called the Nosulus Rift. Instead of dropping you into a virtual reality world, however, the Oculus Rift spoof has something far more sinister in mind. Its sole purpose for existing is to deliver a potent fart smell during specific game moments.
I tested the Nosulus Rift out during a brief demo of the game because I possess both an insatiable curiosity and a deep sense of self-loathing. If you thought regular VR headsets made you look like a dork (and they really do), then the Nosulus Rift is not going to do you any favors. The device straps directly onto your face, covering your nose in a way that best resembles Bane from Batman or a high-tech Hannibal Lecter. It seems perfectly harmless at first, until you trigger the game's farting mechanic.

Farting is a key component of South Park: The Fractured But Whole. It's a command you can trip at any time with a button press; in the demo, it was also a way to jettison my tiny hero through the sky. Immediately after a fart, the Nosulus floods with a smell that I promise only gets stronger as you go. This horrible, noxious gas, I'm told, comes from oils within the device. It's sort of like aromatherapy in hell.
I don't know if I'd go as far as to call myself Polygon's resident smell expert — there are too many people on staff with children — but I can assure you I've smelt some truly horrible things that I have not personally dealt. Still, I'm sure you'd like to see my credentials. That's cool! I respect your integrity. In no particular order of importance, here is a list of just a few terrible things I have smelled in my life:

  • A smoothie I once forgot about and left in my car, in the dead heat of a Missouri summer, for five weeks
  • A fraternity house
  • San Francisco
  • Various spoiled foods left to die in my fridge, including milk that assumed a solid form; blackened fruit; and rancid meat
  • Gorilla poop
  • Many airport bathrooms, both international and domestic
  • An average of three video game industry conventions every year over the last four years
  • Wet laundry I forgot about and came back to three days later, only to find out it grew mold
  • Human urine and feces, incubated in a hot tunnel (you might be thinking this was also in San Francisco; it was not)
I humbly believe that this list, while by no means extensive, will make you believe me when I tell you the Nosulus Rift is — can I swear? It's absolutely [Ed. note: Removed. Megan, please never use this word on our website again.] They call it a fart smell, but it is the scent that farts fart. It is a concentrated blast of an all-day music festival's worst port-a-potty. It is a used diaper left to wither and die in the desert sun, just after being sprayed with the bad breath of someone who loves eating heavy cheeses and corpses, probably.
If you think a few whiffs of fresh air will free you, please, let me assure you that it does not. The smell lingers. I've blown my nose no less than seven times today, forced my olfactory organ into every aroma-laden corner of Gamescom I could find, and yet it haunts me still.
According to the very lovely Ubisoft rep who subjected me to this nausea-inducing experience, only eight to 10 of these monstrosities exist. They're unlikely to ever make it to retail. The thought helps me sleep at night.

[h=1]South Park: The Fractured But Whole pushed into 2017[/h]

[h=2]Dumped into first quarter[/h]

South Park: The Fractured But Whole has been delayed, Ubisoft announced on its blog. The superhero-themed adventure game will now launch sometime in the first quarter of 2017.
"The development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal," according to the post. A new release date hasn't been pinned down.
The game was originally set for a Dec. 6 release, which the publisher revealed at this year's E3 event. Alongside the launch date came tons of new trailers and gameplay footage for the foul-mouthed follow-up to 2014's South Park: The Stick of Truth.
Most recently, The Fractured But Whole made an unforgettable appearance at Gamescom 2016, where we invited it into our nostrils. A scented gag peripheral invented for the game, the Nosulus Rift, won't see retail release, much to the delight of the unfortunate souls who have taken a whiff of it.

[h=1]South Park: The Fractured But Whole delayed again[/h]

[h=2]Now coming sometime before April 2018[/h]

South Park: The Fractured But Whole has been delayed for a second time, publisher Ubisoft announced today. The foul-mouthed role-playing game based on the long-running animated series will now be released in Ubisoft’s upcoming fiscal year, which runs from April 2017 through March 2018.
Back at E3 2016, Ubisoft slotted The Fractured But Whole for a Dec. 6 debut. The company announced three months later that it had decided to push the game back to the first quarter of 2017. “The development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal,” Ubisoft said at the time.
Because of the additional delay, Ubisoft revised its sales forecast for the current fiscal year, which ends March 31. The new range, which reflects the fact that The Fractured But Whole won’t be released in the 2016-17 fiscal year, runs from €1.61 billion ($1.72 billion) to €1.67 billion ($1.78 billion) — a drop of €155 million on the low end and €175 million on the high end.
The previous entry in the franchise, South Park: The Stick of Truth, also suffered a number of delays. It was originally scheduled to launch in the second half of 2012, but then-publisher THQ pushed the game into early 2013. The company then delayed the game again to later in 2013. After Ubisoft picked up The Stick of Truth during THQ’s collapse, the French publisher announced a December 2013 date but then pushed it back, too. The Stick of Truth was finally released in March 2014.

For more on South Park: The Fractured But Whole, which is in development on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, check out the game’s most recent trailer.

Update: We’ve added notes on the delays to South Park: The Stick of Truth, the predecessor to The Fractured But Whole.

[h=1]South Park: The Fractured But Whole Finally Gets a Release Date[/h]

Gamers who have been eagerly anticipating the announcement of an official release date for South Park: The Fractured But Whole franchise tie-in RPG (from developer/publisher Ubisoft and South Park Digital Studios) will be happy to discover that the upcoming video game finally has an official release date. Serving as the sequel to the best-selling 2014 release South Park: The Stick of Truth, the latest creative venture in the world of video games from series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone is all set to take fans on a wild South Park superhero fueled ride, starring none other than The Coon himself.
Slated to include supporting turns from several well known side-characters from the television series’ infamous skewering of the superhero genre (in the form of the Eric Cartman-led Coon & Friends vigilante venture), South Park: The Fractured But Whole is sure to please fans of the eponymous show’s decidedly sophomoric bent. Sporting a title that is an obvious double entendre, fans of The Stick of Truth will definitely want to mark their calendars for the recently announced official release date of its immediate sequel.
Per an official press release, Ubisoft and South Park Digital Studios have announced that South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be made available to purchase for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC starting October 17, 2017 across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Expected to be produced in four specific editions – including Standard, Gold, Steelbook Gold, and Collector’s Editions – anyone who pre-purchases the game will receive a copy of The Stick of Truth free of charge, with select vendors offering the latter product immediately upon preorder.

Be sure to check out the official plot synopsis for South Park: The Fractured But Whole below:
Every superhero has an origin, and Coon & Friends are no different. Continuing in their role as the New Kid, players will discover their backstory, assemble their unique costumes, and harness their fart-based powers from numerous hero classes to create their own original hero. An all-new combat system offers unique opportunities to master space and time while on the battlefield, and a revamped looting and crafting system gives players the freedom to craft their own equipment to aid them in battle.

As an added bonus to all potential player who decide to preorder South Park: The Fractured But Whole, the addition of an in-game assistant in the form of the iconic mainstaycharacter Towlie will also be included as add-on content to provide colorful commentary and helpful tips during gameplay. On that note, here’s to for hoping for the very best when the game finally sees release later this Fall.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole
will be made available to purchase for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC starting October 17, 2017.

[h=1]South Park: The Fractured But Whole has a skin color ‘difficulty’ setting[/h]

[h=2]“This doesn’t affect combat. Just every other aspect of your whole life.”[/h]

South Park: The Fractured But Whole does a very on-brand thing with its character creator’s difficulty setting slider, based on Eurogamer’s playthrough of the upcoming role-playing game. Characters become dark-skinned on the hardest end of the spectrum, a cosmetic effect meant as a bit of social satire.
The goof appears around the five-minute, 40-second mark in the video above. The difficulty slider is one of the last pieces of the character customization process, and as players push it from hard to easy, their skin color changes along with it.
“Don’t worry, this doesn’t affect combat,” narrator and South Park mascot Eric Cartman says during this segment. “Just every other aspect of your whole life.”
South Park: The Fractured But Whole’s difficulty slider reminds us of a piece by sci-fi author John Scalzi from back in 2012, called “Straight White Male: The Lowest Difficulty Setting There Is.”
“This means that the default behaviors for almost all the non-player characters in the game are easier on you than they would be otherwise,” Scalzi wrote. “The default barriers for completions of quests are lower. Your leveling-up thresholds come more quickly. You automatically gain entry to some parts of the map that others have to work for. The game is easier to play, automatically, and when you need help, by default it’s easier to get.”
This difficulty slider doesn’t play out in the same way, but it’s only fitting that a show that attempts to lampoon society would throw in a little reference to white male privilege. We’ve also got to give it up to Ubisoft for giving players the chance to be someone other than a guy in The Fractured But Whole, unlike in South Park: The Stick of Truth. There’s even the option to be cisgender or transgender, as seen in the video below. (Check in around minute 44.)

The Fractured But Whole launches this October.

[h=1]This week’s South Park sets up The Fractured But Whole[/h]

[h=2]“Franchise Prequel” culminates in a rift between Coon and Friends[/h]

This week’s episode of South Park probably isn’t required viewing for understanding what will happen in Ubisoft’s upcoming video game, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, but it definitely helps set up the events for the game’s Civil War-style conflict. And it does so in a way that’s typically topical of the show while managing to lay the ground work for a game that’s been in development for more than two years.
Here’s the official synopsis of “Franchise Prequel,” the episode that aired on Comedy Central last night:
Professor Chaos has found the perfect tool to spread lies and misinformation about Coon and Friends. In trying to save their reputation, the boys come face to face with Mark Zuckerberg.
In other words, while Cartman and company desperately try to establish a Marvel Cinematic Universe-caliber superhero franchise, Butters has other plans. He uses an army of online trolls to spread fake news to attack and splinter the group. There are some digs at Facebook and some topical jokes aimed at Harvey Weinstein and Russia. Last night’sSouth Park effectively ends with a scene that’s almost identical to The Fractured But Whole’s E3 2016 trailer, with a few noticeable differences.

You can watch “Franchise Prequel” — the 10th episode of South Park’s 21st season — for free on Comedy Central’s website (availability may be dependent on your country, however).
South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be out next week. The PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One game drops Oct. 17.

[h=1]Denuvo DRM broken within 24 hours of South Park’s launch, say hackers[/h]

[h=2]South Park fractured, but whole on pirate sites[/h]

Once again, Denuvo’s anti-piracy protection has been broken by hackers not even a day past the launch of a major game using it. This time it’s South Park: The Fractured But Whole, which launched yesterday.
Two warez sites have links to the full PC version of game on filesharing lockers. At this point it’s probably fair to say the woe-is-me message from pirates about 18 months ago, when it took them a while to beat Just Cause 3’s DRM, was probably FUD. They had little trouble with Middle-earth: Shadow of War’s protection, and Sonic Mania’s before that.
Late last week, NeoGAF commenters noted that The Evil Within 2 launched without Denuvo files, more circumstantial evidence that the protection, which PC gamers don’t really care for, isn’t doing much for publishers who license it. In the case of Sonic Mania, Denuvo was initially blamed for problems that effectively made it an always-online game. An update later resolved that problem, but hackers still broke the DRM.
There’s always the chance that South Park, Middle-earth or other games get updated with a new form of the protection. Denuvo’s anti-tamper technology has never been said to be bulletproof and it’s constantly changing. But the company has tried to make cracking it take such a long time that pirates either gave up or no longer wanted the game.
Mass Effect: Andromeda was quickly broken after launch back in March, but pirated copies were prevented from getting the game’s substantial post-launch updates and patches. Electronic Arts later pulled the DRM entirely.

I think I'll stick to the PC version for this game. The requirements are extremely modest and even my laptop can play it. No need to spend $59 for this one :p

Is anyone on PG playing this ? Good news is that the game is so light weight even on my ultra slimbook it runs in 1600x900 at medium presets :p

So far it seems like more of the same but I'm unlocking more powers and the combat is entirely different from the first game.

its a good game man..super fun if you are a south park fan..alot of fan service is done. the humor is on point, but I am too far early in the game to really comment on all of it
Yeah, the starting is a bit too similar to Stick of Truth. In-fact, everyone starts in their old wizard costumes before the story progresses to the super hero plot. From all the information online, this game is almost twice the size of the first and a lot of people are saying the game really picks up in the 2nd half when you get more time powers unlocked.

The humor has been pretty standard South Park stuff so far, so if you're not a fan of the franchise, there's little for you here.

Donno i m lost!!
Played an hour of the game. It's way slow compared to stick of truth. I read in some review that it starts slow but gets better later on so I'm gonna stick around. Plus I enjoyed the last game a lot so even if it's 50% as good then that works for me
