Sound Problem

Hello Guys, i am facing sound problem for a few days. The sound doesn't come in Browser, or while opening folders. But, it works fine while watching movies (through media player) or playing games. I have tried re-installing drivers, but all in vain. I know reinstalling windows will solve the problem. But is there any other way of getting rid of this prob.

Go to control panel>Sounds And Audio devices>Sounds>Program Events.....Then go and select the item from list and apply the sounds...

Thanks bro. U didn't completely solved the problem but u gave me a clue. Everything's working fine now
