Sony PlayStation 5 : Play Has No Limits

PS5 Release Date, PS5 Games, PS5 Power vs Xbox One X, PS5 Price Speculation - All the PS5 Info lets discuss

Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?

What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

Funny how I never experienced any stick drift with the DS4 and currently with the Joycons as well or with the Xbox One controller (but granted I didn't keep the Xbox for long to know about it...)

Oddly enough I encountered drifting issue with an expensive Razer controller....

I shouldn't be surprised considering which game's themed peripherals Razer makes...

So, a PG member's store on Fb has the consoles listed at 125K and 115k for regular and digital versions, respectively. A Dualsense separately is 17.5K.

I don't think there is any commercially available drive released yet (i think there are WD and Samsung variants coming soon) that match the PS5 SSD spec.

Cerny says they will run tests to confirm compatible drives within the year, so makes sense to stop people form buying incompatible drives.

The messaging could be better though.

This is excellent stuff. Going to keep difficulty on game default unless it's tied to a platinum trophy I'm looking to get, but totally going with Performance mode as default for all games I play. Curious to know what the first and third-person view options are like. Hopefully, things like FoV and camera distance adjustment are covered.

PS5 save files can only be backed up to PlayStation Plus cloud storage

If you don’t subscribe to PS Plus, you could lose your saves

At the moment, the PlayStation 5 doesn’t support copying save data onto external storage devices. Instead, the console’s only option for moving save files from one PS5 to another, or backing up save data, will be to use Sony’s cloud storage — which is available exclusively to PlayStation Plus subscribers.

This is different from how it works on PlayStation 4, which allows users to back up save data to a USB drive as well as cloud storage. Without that option, PS5 owners are at risk of losing their save files if some catastrophe befalls them — like their console getting stolen in a robbery, or destroyed in a flood, or bricked by a firmware update — unless they pay for an active PlayStation Plus subscription.

The PS4/PS5 difference becomes clear in the PS5’s system settings. In the “Saved Data and Game/App Settings” page of the menu, there’s a section labeled “Saved Data (PS4).” There, players can choose to copy PS4 save files to a USB drive or Sony’s cloud storage, or delete those files from the console. The other option is to change the way that the PS5 handles the automatic upload of PS4 save data to cloud storage.

However, the “Saved Data (PS5)” menu lacks the “USB Drive” option. Instead, the only things to do with PS5 save files are to manually copy them from the console’s internal storage to Sony’s cloud storage, or to delete them.

If you click “Console Storage” on this page, you’ll get to a screen that offers just two options: “Upload to Cloud Storage” and “Delete.” The former has a PlayStation Plus logo next to it — which means it’s restricted to subscribers.

While cloud storage is certainly nice, and likely to be the way that the majority of PS5 users back up their save data, a few things make it inconvenient. Aside from the fact that PS5 save backup is locked behind the PlayStation Plus paywall, cloud saves require network connections to access. That leaves players out of luck if their internet goes down, whereas they’d be able to restore save files from local storage if they could back them up to it.

Of course, this is the way Nintendo handles save files on the Nintendo Switch — users can back them up to cloud storage only if they pay for a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. (When the console launched in early 2017, it didn’t even have that feature.) Meanwhile, Microsoft offers free cloud saves on Xbox One (and they’ll soon be free on Xbox 360, too).

It’s worth noting that save data isn’t the only thing that the PS5 won’t let you transfer to a USB device. The console also blocks players from moving entire games to external storage. While it’s no surprise that players can’t play PS5 games from external storage, given the speed of the PS5’s internal SSD, it is a little surprising that Sony won’t let players use external USB drives as “cold storage” to free up space on the SSD without having to re-download games.

BC games are running in an emulated PS4 Pro environment unless they get native patches. They're not running the full speed/specs. They only maximize specs in cases of dynamic resolution or frame rate (eg Sekiro/Hitman lock to 60 FPS). But 30 FPS games don't break that and games with fixed resolutions don't increase it.

Maybe it's something they'll address, maybe its deliberate for fear of not breaking compatibility, who knows.

Native games like Miles Morales take 2 seconds to load from main menu to the open world.

Once you get a PS5, you can let one of your peasant PS4 friend to use your account to set it as primary on PS4 to #Flex and show dominance and it will still be set as Primary on your PS5

The PS5 interface looks very sleek, but the Giant Bomb video pointed out a bunch of QoL things which were added to the PS4 UI over time, which are absent in the PS5 a the moment. eg No Folders..... how did they miss adding that into the PS5 UI when its already a part of the PS4 UI for years ?

Other then that, things like instantly being able to launch specific components of a game directly from the UI and universal settings (Performance, controls, difficulties etc) are a great way to use the system itself to a players liking.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
