Sony PlayStation 5 : Play Has No Limits

PS5 Release Date, PS5 Games, PS5 Power vs Xbox One X, PS5 Price Speculation - All the PS5 Info lets discuss

Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?

What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

Join Technical Director of Graphics Brian Karis and Special Projects Art Director Jerome Platteaux (filmed in March 2020) for an in-depth look at "Lumen in the Land of Nanite" - a real-time demonstration running live on PlayStation 5 showcasing two new core technologies that will debut in UE5: Nanite virtualized micropolygon geometry, which frees artists to create as much geometric detail as the eye can see, and Lumen, a fully dynamic global illumination solution that immediately reacts to scene and light changes.

Epic CEO Tim Sweeney says the PS5 is so impressive it’s ‘going to help drive future PCs’

Epic and Sony have been working closely together, and Sweeney is impressed.

Epic CEO Tim Sweeney says next-generation gaming consoles, in particular Sony’s PlayStation 5, will bring about changes in game development that go far beyond a jump in graphics quality. During a press briefing for the company’s newly announced Unreal Engine 5, which is optimized to work with next-gen consoles, Sweeney says the PS5 is a “remarkably balanced device.”

“It has an immense amount of GPU power, but also multi-order bandwidth increase in storage management. That’s going to be absolutely critical,” he says. “It’s one thing to render everything that can fit in memory,” he adds, but a much more impressive feat to render a world that “might be tens of gigabytes in size” almost instantaneously, as Sony’s new console and its M.2 solid-state drive are promising.

Industry leader keeps on leading, even beyond the realm of consoles now (y)

A demo that also runs on a 2070S-level gpu today that won't even be playable on consoles

the founder and creator of the engine is comparing it with one of the best commercially available GPUs right now, itna dil pe lene ki zaroorat nahi :p

Sweeney isn’t taking Sony’s word for it, either. He and the engineers at Epic are using the console themselves. Sweeney says the two companies have been working closely together during the development of UE5 and the PS5, ensuring that Epic’s game development tool sets for developers creating next-gen titles is optimized for the hardware that software will ultimately run on.
Epic has been working in tandem with Sony, which means we will likely see more PS5 first parties using UE5 (ala Days Gone).

Alienware when they realize they need to look at PS5 for references in the coming days

Its a multiplatform engine though and not limited to use for Sony first party studios. The best looking Unreal engine games aren't even on a Sony platform ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Depends on how far their integration goes. If the engine is being developed with fully utilizing the PS5 SSD in mind, then PS5 only games or certain multiplatform games with a lot of streaming will have a significant advantage compared to multi-plat or XBSX only UE5 games.

Significant advantage in terms of what? Multiplatforms will be designed to run on all major platforms. Exclusives on either consoles can't really be compared since they won't be available on both platforms.

Between FFVII Remake and Days Gone, the best looking console UE4 games this generation *are* on the PS4. Gears 5 is good, but the 60 FPS focus on XBX let a lot of visual features down which were only available/possible on PC.

Everyone is excused

[h=1]PlayStation 5 still on track for holiday 2020 launch, Sony says[/h]

Sony said so in its financial results statement

Sony’s PlayStation 5 is still on track for its holiday 2020 launch window, the company said in a statement issued in its financial results (PDF). Next-generation games shouldn’t be affected either, Sony said.
“Regarding the launch of PlayStation 5, although factors such as employees working from home and restrictions on international travel have presented some challenges in regards to part of the testing process and the qualification of production lines, development is progressing with the launch of the console scheduled for the 2020 holiday season,” Sony said in the statement. “At this point in time major problems have not arisen in the game software development pipeline for Sony’s own first-party studios or its partners’ studios.”
In its statement, Sony also said there has been a “slight impact” on PlayStation 4 hardware production “due to issues in the component supply chain,” but that “demand in the short-term is being addressed with current inventory.”

In 2019, Sony announced that the company’s next-gen console will be released for “holidays 2020.” Microsoft’s new console, the Xbox Series X, is slated for the same window. Microsoft said in May that the novel coronavirus pandemic has not impacted the launch schedule, but may cause game production delays.
Microsoft has been more forthcoming with information about its next-gen console, while Sony’s information has lagged behind. We still don’t even know what the dang thing looks like. (But we have seen the new controller, the DualSense.) On Tuesday, Sony did show off a new logo for PlayStation Studios — the Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios teams that develop its games.

Never even said FF7R is a particularly bad looking game. But its still far from the best looking UE game especially given the limited scope and dated corridor level design it exhibits.

Also, ab Alex ki opinion valid hogai :hah:

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
