search option disappeared in windows xp

search option in my windows xp has disappeared......cant find it in start menu nor on right click menu on folders.....is there any quick way to fix it except for repairing windows?

While I'm not sure what caused the search link to be
missing from your start menu, here are steps to get it
back:

- right-click on the 'Start' button
- select 'Properties'
- under the 'Start Menu' tab, press the 'Customize...'
button
- under the 'Advanced' tab, scroll down in the 'Start
menu items' window
- select the checkbox for 'Search'

Another Solution Download WIndows XP Service Pack 3 and install it you dont need to repair Windows Xp
In this way you can easily update your windows XP as well as gettin rid of all the problems.

nooooooooo task manager is not working....a message comes "task manager has been disabled my adminstrator"

even the registry was disabled but i managed to fix it through a patch......

Its a Malware or a virus attack. Install a reliable antivirus software and get rid of it as soon as possible , I prefer NOD32 with the latest update will help you to overcome the problem.

actually i advise u not to use any usb's on ure pc anymore... i had a similar virus or malware enter my pc....it makes ure anti-virus totally uselesss....it shows as if it is working but in real its not....try running virus scans and all see if it helps....and btw to do a chek if its the same virus....u will notice tht evn if u were able to open regedit with a patch next time u restart u wont b able to do it and u will have to reapply the patch... DO NOT USE ANY usb on ure pc....if u have then it has the virus/malware in it....it cannot be formatted....ure best choice is to backup ure stuff on an external Hard disk yes the virus/malware duzunt effect external HD's for some reason...and then reformat and reisntalll windows tht will do the trick....and yeah the same thing happened to my frnd the very day as we were working on a project and the virus deleted his entire mp3 library and video library...targeting the .mp3 and .mpeg format...

hey thank u all for the replies..........i moved important stuff into other partition and formatted C drive and reinstalled windows.....everythings fine now (1)
