This Mi Max prime version has SD 652 but all of the 8 cores never sleep is that a problem or is this chip designed to function like this ?

They're not sleeping, reducing power consumption.

If you're doing basic tasks and have few apps running in the background, it'll slow down all the cores to save battery.

Happens not only on Snapdragon, but Exynos processors as well.

They sleep while not in use, and reduce their clock speed heavily if the usage doesn't require it.

I'll post some more but watch them be drastically different because the OP3 uses an aggressive CPU governor and different techniques to achieve the fastest phone in the world title that they claim to have. Read that blog post on XDA about how they made the 3/3T so quick.

As you can see, both CPU clusters remain at the lowest clock speed most of the time because I'm not performing any heavy or resource intensive tasks right now, hence its lower to keep power consumption lower as well.

This has nothing to do with the SOC. Its upto the CPU scheduler been used by the OEM. Purely a software thing.

Bro thts the thing. Had Redmi Pro with x25 and most of the 2 cores were active and rest sleeping. On my G3 2 cores sleep if there in no activity but with this Mi Max sd652 all cores are always active and never sleeping. Its costing standby time.

Maybe it's a software related issue rather than an issue with the chip itself.

Here's the screenshot from my S7:

I also have redmi note 3 with snapdraon 650. Which is the same as 652 other than the fact that it has 2 fewer A72 cores. I dont see any problem like that. Are you on global stable rom or dev rom? Global or chinesse?
