Hi everyone! I wanted suggestions regarding a good custom rom for Lg G3 (T-mobile), the one with good performance and a great battery timing. Have used Fulmics 6.7 and Resurrection remix (N) for a while they are okay. Please let me know if you have any better rom recommendations with great customization, very less or no bugs and of course great battery timing. Peace!

ikonox has a D851 and should be able to shed some light on this.

My opinion: Wait for LineageOS to become stable for the G3 and then flash that.

Thank you murtaza12
Battery Life for G3 is an undeniable issue on ANY ROM you try.
I have used above mentioned ROMs along with many others including crDroid, AICP, and CM14.1. Resurrection Remix 5.8 is my personal favorite mainly because of customization.

As for your question, CM14.1 has given me best of screen on time with average 3.5~4Hrs under moderate use (trust me thats a lot on G3 :laugh1:). I am currently using Lineage OS 14.1 (unofficial) and its relatively better in terms of performance with a little less battery time (2.5~3hrs screen on time). However, there is not much of "customization" in it. Personally I cant go back from 7.1.1 roms anymore. If you dont mind that, you can try many other roms, like DirtyUnicorns?

As suggested by murtaza12, I would advise to wait for Official Lineage OS. It maybe a lot more stable and better in performance.
Please reply again with your concerns and experiences.

I would like to add a question to this thread.
Is there any need of flashing custom Kernal as well??? Does it improve battery life and performance?

I have been reading a lot about SuperCrazyKernal for G3, and that it improves performance as well as battery life.
I have never flashed a kernal before, I just flash ROMs.

I used Fulmics ROM for about 6 months and found it to be very stable, however it has compatibility issues with some apps (especially Samsung Gear manager).

So about 5 days ago I switched back to stock ROM and found it to be horrible, including the bloatware.

Last night I flashed AOSP-CAF ROM and so far it's very stable. Use it with pico package of Google Apps and you'll get a phone with just the base OS. So far it's bug free for me and Samsung Gear S2 is working fine too as well as connects to car effortlessly. Also phone natively connects to 4G.

Try it, [ROM][6.0.x] AOSP - CAF [LA.BR.1.2.7_rb1.25… | LG G3

Do not wipe Delvik immediately after flashing the rom using TWRP, the buttons are side by side and it's easy to make mistake. Just reboot and you'll be fine.

PS: I have D855 although the ROM has a build for D851.

Mostly it comes at a cost of losing one or more functionality of the phone, for example knock code, or laser focus not working. Some kernels do offer better battery and performance but it's a subjective opinion which depends on how you use your phone.

If you're looking for a stock Lg rom then there is no better alternative than cloudy rom which has some excellent features with none of the bloatware. If on the other hand you like a stable rom based on AOSP(nexus-like)marshmallow then Oct-Os is my only choice. Used both of them & they are the most stable roms I found. I'm still using the oct-os on my s4 mini & is running as smooth as you can possibly imagine.[ROM][Jul 05] -=- CloudyG3 2.5 -=- [All Vari… | LG G3

Thanks for your suggestions. Im running Resurrection remix 7.1.1 and it has been so far so good and stable enough. I will share my experiences with you as I use it.
As to answer your question about the kernel flashing, yes, they do provide enough tweaks if you want to kick up the performance by overclocking the cpu, but it costs the battery life. Keeping in view battery life of lg g3 d851, I wouldn't go for overclocking the cpu. You can save battery by underclocking or lowering the cpu voltage to the cores or by choosing to limit cores when screen is off.
If you haven't flashed a kernel before, I'd recommend you to do some homework or you'll end up with an expensive brick. These are some of the common apps: FrancoKernel or FKupdater (a famous one), Kernel Toolkit and TricksterMOD.

Please update if you find any bugs so I will move to 7.1.1. Also update about battery life on this ROM.

For me AOSP-CAF is working awesome so far however I would like to test out Android N.

I have been using Resurrection Remix for about 4 days and I haven't noticed any bug as for now. I haven't seen huge improvements in battery life than stock but it has improved than it was in starting days, giving me around 4 hours of screen on time with no sync on, brightness kept low, most of the apps greenified. I like it for its snappiness and lowest usage of RAM. Haven't received any ota but im positive. It has a plethora of additional tweaks and customization options. I would have flashed AOSP-CAF as per your suggestion but I do not want to go back to MM. btw I like this rom more than Fulmics 6.7, rebooting in fulmics was a major pain in the a s s as it took around 3 minutes to boot but resurrection is snappy. Try this rom and let me know your experience :)

I am using RR 5.8 (android 7.1.1) myself. Except for some app crashes (which is Nougat's natural issue) I haven't found any issues. I love the customization and overall UI of the rom.

I can't check OTA for unknown reasons. I have heard you have to dirty flash updates on it.

customized roms are crap always use the official ones the g3 sounds laggy for OS later than Android 5.1 due to an old chipset however the korean cat 6 variant can handle it

Well, G3 is as fast as any other smartphone out there rather i'd say its way better than the contemporary crappy smartphones especially if we consider its age. Lollipop was good but you should see how it flied through every app with its official MM ota update. I flashed fulmics, RR, and one of the aosp sony roms, g3 has never disappointed me in its performance. I agree its battery life is not very special or its gpu. Baaki im fine with g3.

Please provide data to support your argument. I always feel smoother and faster with my G3 on customized rom. My antutu benchmarks are around 5K higher than that on stock or android 5.

That's strange, my experiences suggests otherwise. Custom roms offer me better experience. Well. Good Luck
