More reliable than DSL and ability to get packages higher than 20 Mbps are your only benefits.

Other than that, pings are barely 10-15ms lower than DSL and you'll get the same 8 Mbps speed on DSL but with a 2 Mbps upload instead.

What do you mean?

I already said it'd be more reliable. There will be no linemen involved EVER with GPON and you will have no disconnections, or de-sync issues or any reason to call customer support.

I had to get a new line.

They weren't able to transfer my old number to the GPON line.

Different series as well.
Normal numbers in Bahria are either 570x or 573x, but all the GPON ones are 272x.

Go to your exchange. Some of them can transfer the number but it's usually not possible.

PTCL is such an old ISP and its pathetic that most areas are still using old copper wires that are very unstable now. They would have covered alot of areas with Fiber Optic by now but guess what? They are lazy or too cheap to invest in improving their pathetic service. I have spent my entire life in Saudi Arabia and just recently moved here and almost all areas were covered with FTTH service either by STC or Mobily. Even STCs DSL service was pretty solid compared to crap PTCL BB. STC is the largest provider in KSA just like PTCL is in Pakistan but they never failed to provide quick support unlike PTCL that just constantly ignore all my complaints. My PTCL line is very unstable and sometimes its impossible to game unlike STC DSL which provided constant 6mbps with a stable line even during peak hours. Later i switched to Mobily FTTH as i download alot of games and movies and it was only 25mbps service but for some reason performed much better than my cousins 40mbps Fiberlink for gaming and loading webpages due to Mobilys investment in direct peering to game servers, social and streaming websites. Im sorry but its frustrating when you are used to low ping and opening up webpages instantly. That is just my experience with ISPs in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Sorry for the long post. Im frustrated with PTCL.

Like the old ptcl modem showed upstream and downstream. I cant see anything like that in my ptcl gpon device.

Nope. GPON doesn't show those values.

Actually i am getting quite low speeds since friday. My package is 20mb and my speed test shows 7mb down and 10mb up. I dont know whats wrong. Is any1 else experiencing slow speeds ?

GPON is not available in WT but VDSL is you can shift to VDSL much better than ADSL
