Hello,

I was wondering if there's a 3G/4G router compatible with PTCL Charji Cloud (Rev B)?

The problem which I'm facing is the signal range of the device. I literally have to sit in the same room as where the device is connected, in order to enjoy the internet on my Iphone5s. If I'm on the laptop, I can barely sit just outside the room of where the device is connected.

What I'm trying to accomplish is to boost the signal of the device via a router, so I can easily maneuver anywhere I want on the entire floor maybe even the entire house.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,
Usman

I have done it. Flash dd-wrt on your existing router and set it in Repeater mode. It will boost your signals. the connection is wireless.

I have no understanding of what u just wrote, and I don't own any router, YET! :).

So I did some research.

If I've understood correctly, DD-WRT is an open-source firmware which upgrades/enhances wireless Internet routers, and is used as a replacement for the factory default firmware, but it only applies for specific routers models.

If I'm right on track, is it possible to buy a router with an already built in Repeater function, so I don't have to flash with DD-WRT.

If flashing with DD-WRT is the only way, are there any better routers out there, with even stronger/longer signal range that I can buy and flash with DD-WRT to use the repeater function?

Which router do you use?

Thanks in advance m8!

I used an old TP-LINK MR3220 I had lying around. You can buy a repeater.

I am using TPLINK WR740N cost just Rs. 1300 for same case as you mentioned. My Charji device is available on roof with my TPLINK router in bridge mode. Almost all TPLink router do support bridge mode by default. I then connect that TPLink router to other TPLink router in ground floor for available of Wifi Single in ground floor.

I heavily researched on the subject and found the best possible solution.

I bought a TPLINK TL-WDR4300 N750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router, a simultaneous dual band router.

Why Dual Band? Because there is no 50% loss of bandwidth when extending a signal, which is the case in every other situation when not using a simultaneous dual band router.

Installed DD-WRT on it. The version/build, if anyone's interested (DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/18/14) std - build 23919).

Set it up like the following:
2.4Ghz band as the Client Bridge which connects to the the Charji device
5Ghz and as an AP which shares the connection from the other band (2.4Ghz)

I'm getting beautiful signal THROUGHOUT the house!!

Mission Accomplished!

Thanks for all the help guys!!!

Cheers!!!
