Ps3 Stuck at the Harddrive Check at 14% HELP..

This has happened to a friend of mine, he was deleting his PSN messages, and it was talking too long,
he pressed the power button, but nothing happened, so he took out the power plug, *facepalm*
now when he start the ps3, the Hdd Check gets stuck at 14%
and the yellow HDD light on the Ps3 stays on,

what is going on? any ideas, and how can he get it fixed??

before you enter the HDD check, it clearly says it can take up to 3 hours to complete. My advice is wait it out and see what happens.

He could cancel the HDD check, it is similar to cancelling the disk check on the computer.

If he wants to, tell him to press the back button, if the enter button is x then press O, if the enter button is O then press x.

:s.. yes it does, The HDD check on the Playstation 3 can be cancelled by the back button. I do it EVERY time. :/

something similar happend to me when i switched off my ps3 during shut down mode it showed me black screen of death whenever i tried the disc check, i could play my game if i simply choose to ignore the disc check but i dont recommend playing like that, cause it can maybe do more damage to the software. to cut the long story short i restored my ps3 to default factore settings by doing a hard reset and voila everything worked like a charm only downside i lost all my game save data and game installs all the patches to games ive downloaded had to be downloaded again, other than that no big issue. so i recommend u do that if it didnt fix. like the guy said wait it out fr 30 mins or so if it moves from 13 percent it means its fine otherwise just do factory restore here is the link to the video tht i saw before i restored my ps3 Fix Corrupted Hard Drive, And most PS3 Problems. *Easy* - YouTube hope it helps.

and yes tell your friend to remember his psn id and passwords cause he will need them if he wants to play using his old psn account.
