don't know if its the correct thread to ask, but how'd i transfer games into the internal hardrive and external after downloading ps3 rips off of internet, i know one option is to use ftp server, but wht if i need to play ps3 rips off external hardrive , sorry if this question has been asked before, if so pls redirect me to tht thread.

To Play off internal HDD use FTP

To play off external HDD, just copy the game to x:\GAMEZ folder and when you run backup manager it will automatically list the game provided if you copied to the right folder.

FTP Transfer steps (for download games)

I'll add these steps for first post of this thread also for convenience of ppl.

1- Download FileZilla (FTP client for Windows), Install on your PC.
2- Download blackb0x ftp 1.1 (PS3 ftp applicaiton), Install on Hacked PS3.
(now make sure both ps3 and pc are on the same network/hooked up to same router/switch)
3- open FileZilla on PC, and blackb0x ftp 1.1 on PS3.
4- write down the IP address that you see in blackb0x ftp, .. input the IPaddress in the IP field of FileZilla, leave username/pass blank, in PORT: type 21. press quickconnect.
5- once you see the ps3 folders on filezilla explorer, you're connected ;p

for copying games. Make sure your games are extracted (usually all torrents downloads will be compressed).
a- inside the filezilla, double click the dev_hdd0 on the ps3 folder. go to dev_hdd0/games/LAUN12345/GAMEZ/
b- drag and drop all game folders to the /GAMEZ folder. so all games should look like this:
dev_hdd0/games/LAUN12345/GAMEZ/AssasinCreed2
dev_hdd0/games/LAUN12345/GAMEZ/SLUS1234 etc.
c- once the files are transferred, open backupManager and it should be able to see all the new games.
d- enjoy

Hi Guys ..... I had accidentally updated my PS3 Firmware to 3.42 So, can this firmware be jail broken? also there are 4 to 5 Jailbreak USB's over the internet i'm confused whats there difference and which is in Pakistan? Also can u update ur Jailbreak USB? because on torrents there is something called PS3 Hacked Update v 3.xx . Also how do u play downloaded games on ur PS3 using a External HDD ? I know how to take backups and about the backup manager there are different versions of the backup managers available even but how to run downloaded backup alludes me.
I know these are noob questions but i really want to know about this PS3 jail break.

Now that you've updated to firmware 3.42, I would advise you to quickly update to firmware 3.50. Just forget the hack ever existed because your chances of getting it are slim. You can, however, buy another PS3 specifically for the hack.

I agree brother,,,,, nobody is working at 3.42. They dont care as long as their ps3 is hacked and they r good to play. I myself am starting to loose it and i m extremly pissed off.

Agreed 100%.

Hacking PS3 firmware/hardware is not a joke. It took 4 years for a hack/leak to come out.

Successful hacking PS3 firmware/hardware cannot follow any deadlines its a laborious/time consuming and expensive process. One wrong move and your PS3 is done for, yes its pace could be much faster if those people who are now stuck with 3.42 or 3.5 are willing to donate PS3 for experimentation with zero guarantee of return or success, there is a high probability that the donated console will either be destroyed or bricked forever. Sounds scary doesn't it, that's the risk that those people who are trying to break the console's software/hardware are taking everyday and for what nothing, no money, no compensation.

BTW: as for 3.41 and 3.42, 3.41 jailbreak was done by hackers?, absolutely no, it was done by people who had access to PS3 SDK and knew the combination of power/eject. It was more of a leak than a hack.

Which now SONY has disabled in firmware 3.42.

What I could tell you is that though SONY has changed the encryption in 3.42 but some people are making headway into it both at software and hardware level.

AlterEgo u must have one original disk in ps3 run ftp screen will go black and then red text will appear dont press any button. then open FileZilla on PC . 1 more thing after some time screen on ps3 will go black so dont worry

1 easy way copy game in external hd and run open manager 1.13 you can copy games from ur external hd to ps3 internal hd

If you're facing issues with the new ftp software, you can use the following link one as alternate.

(this was the first ftp app released for ps3) it can take a few retries to connect, but once you're connected, it transfers games at full speeds without much issues

^ make sure to start the ftp service from within this application, and then use that shown ip address inside of filezilla on pc.

P.S. You don't need any disc inside the ps3 for running homebrew like the ftp application.
