360 Owners Losing Grip On Controllers
XBox 360 owners are complaining about controllers coming out of their hands and breaking television sets, lamps and even noses.
"The controllers are flying out of people's hands, and the cord simply does nothing to prevent property damages," complained attorney Jacob Levenstein, of the law firm Abramson, Levenstein, Rothberg and Rothstein, which is handling a class action lawsuit against Microsoft, the manufacturer of the XBox 360. "They should have anticipated that people would handle their controllers like spastic seizure victims."
Over 300 people have reported their XBox 360 controller slipping out of their hands, and sometimes feet, causing significant property damage, and in some instances, damage to humans as well. "I was playing DOA [Dead or Alive - ed.], and I was trying to make this chick jump," explained Gregory Manthokos, a student. "I was getting really into it and the next thing I knew, the controller flew out of my hand and hit my friend Cory in the face. It busted up his nose and gave him a black eye. It was awesome."
Microsoft has declined to comment on the matter, citing pending litigation. However, the company has also voluntarily offered to replace XBox 360 controllers with ones that come with a 40 pound iron anchor, something initiated months before the suit was filed.
"Too little, too late," declared Levenstein. "We are seeking restitution for the injuries caused to persons and their possessions, as well as compensation for the pain and anguish the defective controllers have brought to these innocent people's lives."
