Ping tweaks

I am using multinet and having problem with my ping over Maxcom counter strike server.getin ping over 400 +. The Guru Mandar and Teen talwaar counter strike server is working gr8 (Ping under 100) i am unable to understand the problem, both servers are hosted in pak probably karachi.I think on Maxcom my ip is routed from uk or somewhere else checked it on visual ip tarce route, dont know why >?
can some one help

There can be lots of issues..either Maxcom server route is too congested or at the time U were trying there was a peek time for the server, maxcom might added a firewall etc...anyway by using my simple cable I am able to play on the servers hosted in china and other countries even within the PING under 300.

hmmm But that route cant be congested 24 hours a day. I checked it for months You might be right about firewall, but then if it is firewall how am i able to get in. Cable is not available in my area

Most of the players i have seen on the server are from karachi and they get pretty good ping pong . I am from lahore and i haven't met any multinet user getting good latency rate on Maxcom.

My problem too is similar. For Pakistani servers the ping always remains <60 but for those in India and china and Turkey it goes too 500+. Strangely, for Servers in Europe, of countries like Hungary etc. my ping remains <300.

dear i have been facing the same problem i get over 400+ ping on pakistani servers and under 300+ ping on some other international servers like iran etc.

what i have figured out is that there could be two reasons

1. Most of the online pakistani gaming server IP addresses are routed through PIE (upstream provider) but my IP address is routed from Flag (upstream provider) that’s why i am facing high latency. Because more latency problem occur in PIE as compared to Flag.


2. There is a wireless point to point network somewhere in between my ISP network which is causing this whole shit.

To find where the problem is, do the following,

use mtr to do a trace, that will show you where the problem is, ping is not the best way to find delays on network. By the way as far as I know mtr only works on linux, there might be an alternative for it. You can also try to do a capture of the traffic to see if your ISP is doing QoS marking to slow you down.
