[h=1]A new Mythical Pokémon for Sword and Shield to be revealed in February[/h]

It will also star in an upcoming movie

Image

Ahead of Pokémon Day 2020, held on Feb. 27, The Pokémon Company announced a new Mythical Pokémon is coming to Pokémon Sword and Shield. Details on the new Pokémon will be revealed on Feb. 27. The new Pokémon is also expected to star in the upcoming Pokémon animated film, Coco. (Not that Coco.)
The announcement was posted in Japanese on the official website and translated by Pokémon website Serebii. Alongside the reveal, Sword and Shield will also get a “special Max Raid Battle” and a new event in Pokémon Go, Serebii reported. There’s no further information on what to expect from the new Mythical creature.
Three Legendary Pokémon already exist in Sword and Shield: Zacian and Zamazenta, the two dog-like Pokémon, and a mysterious Legendary called Eternatus. A few new Legendary Pokémon are expected with Sword and Shield’s upcoming expansions, too — Cubfu, Urshifu, and Calyrex.

Feb. 27 — Pokémon Day — is the anniversary of Pokémon Red and Green’s Japanese release date. This year, Pokémon Day 2020 is the 24th anniversary of the two games’ debut in Japan. (Pokémon Red and Green was released in the United States on Sept. 28, 1998.) Pokémon Day is recognized by the Japanese Anniversary Association, a non-governmental entity that tracks commemorative holidays in Japan. Eevee’s got one of its own, too.

[h=1]New Gigantamax Pokémon, Toxtricity, coming to Sword and Shield[/h]

Big electric boy

Ahead of the Pokémon Day 2020 celebration, The Pokémon Company announced a Gigantamax form for Pokémon Sword and Shield’s punk rock lizard, Toxtricity. The electric- and poison-type Pokémon is the next in line to get a Gigantamax form; it’ll be available to find in Max Raid Battles beginning Feb. 6. The Max Raid Battle event will end March 8.
Gigantamax Toxtricity stands a whopping 78 feet tall and uses G-Max Stun Shock in place of its electric moves. The move will deal damage and poison or paralyze its opponents.
Dynamax and Gigantamax forms are new to Sword and Shield. All Pokémon have Dynamax forms, which just make Pokémon very big while powering the up for three turns. Gigantamax does the same thing, but these Pokémon have distinct visual changes, too. Pokémon caught in the wild can’t Gigantamax — they must be caught in Max Raid Battles or received in other ways, like through a gift or event.

Pokémon Day 2020 is coming on Feb. 27. The Pokémon Company has a whole slew of events planned, including
the announcement of a new Mythical Pokémon. The new Mythical Pokémon will eventually be added to Sword and Shield, as well as star in an upcoming Pokémon animated film.

[h=1]Pokémon Home rewards players with more gift Pokémon[/h]

Three earned for completing simple milestones so far

Pokémon Home users will get free Mystery Gift Pokémon for completing certain milestones, they’ve discovered as players begin using the app. These gifts are in addition to the free Pikachu and Kanto starter that players receive with the console and mobile version of the app, respectively.
Serebii.net has a running catalog of which gift Pokémon have been handed out so far. They are:

 • Pichu: Awarded after placing your first sticker in the binder.
 • Rotom: Awarded after your first Pokémon deposited into the Global Trade Station is taken.
 • Eevee: Awarded after your first Pokémon deposited into the Wonder Box is taken.
The gift Pokémon will last for a month after activation. If you need help finding your binder, look in your player profile. It’s the large white space above your name, records, and notebook. Click on that space to add stickers and claim your reward.
Players may also receive Mystery Gifts by other means, such as a local event or a code. This official support page from Pokemon.com has more details about how Mystery gifts are awarded, and how to claim them.
Pokémon Home launched Tuesday on the Nintendo Switch eShop, Google Play for Android, and the iOS App Store. It allows players to import monsters from Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu, Pokémon Go, and Pokémon Bank. The app’s launch means about 35 new monsters are now available in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

[h=1]Pokémon Sword and Shield Mewtwo raid may be hardest battle in entire series[/h]

What better way to celebrate Pokémon Day?

Image

Pokémon fans love to gripe that the games are too easy, but a new Max Raid Battle in Pokémon Sword and Shield might defy those expectations. Folks who are trying the encounter, which is available until March 1, are reportedly getting their butts kicked.
Why is Mewtwo so tough? It is a level 100 EV-trained creature, who happens to know six moves, not the standard four. Players say that Mewtwo also has way more health and shields than those you can find in standard raid battles. And, as a bonus, the Mewtwo comes packed with move counters that can take down its biggest foes. And if you do manage to beat the legendary Pokémon, you don’t get to catch it — but you do get some rare prizes.
Folks on social media who have tried it have left either terrified or thrilled. Fans are also sharing the best strategies to take down Mewtwo, which at the moment seems to fall squarely on the shoulders of Marshadow and other ghost-types.

See, Max Raid Battle Events like this are great. They give access to the rarer items we may want and Mewtwo being Level 100 with 5* standard health is just nuts

How to kill raid Mewtwo,
-Bring a Marshadow
-Give him an assault vest to not die
-Use spectral thief to steal his nasty plot
-Give him shadow ball to take advantage of the SP Attack boost
-Dead Mewtwo!

Show the world that Marshadow is better then Mewtwo!

[h=1]Pokémon Sword and Shield’s new legendary form depends on your route[/h]

You can only choose one

okémon Sword and Shield’s first expansion, Isle of Armor, will be out by the end of June — and with it comes a new legendary monster, Kubfu. While adorable, the brawler evolves into a more menacing Urshifu whose fighting style will depend on how you play the expansion.
According to a mini Nintendo Direct released this morning, Isle of Armor will present players with two routes. Fans will have to take on the “Towers of Two Fists,” which include the Tower of Darkness and Tower of Waters. Notably, players can only climb one of the gauntlets, not both. The tower you defeat will determine Urshifu’s form.
Urshifu is available in Single Strike Style (Tower of Darkness, Fighting/Dark-type) and Rapid Strike Style (Tower of Waters, Fighting/Water-type). Based on the footage, it appears that Urshifu will have a special move that correlates with its form, as well as a slightly different appearance.

Nintendo also says the Isle of Armor will provide new outfits, hairstyles, and league card background. Starters will also get new Gigantamax forms, including a monster with a flippin’ sniper. Each expansion will cost $29.99, though details on what’s in the Crown Tundra is forthcoming. Folks who buy the expansion or the expansion pass early will get Leon’s caps and tights as an in-game bonus. That offer will be available until Aug. 31, Nintendo says.
The Japanese developer also notes that the release dates for everything in the Direct may change due to the challenges presented by COVID-19.

[h=1]Pokémon Sword and Shield expansion news coming June 2[/h]

The first expansion is slated for release in late June, so it’s time to find out more about it

More information surrounding the Pokémon: Sword and Shieldexpansions, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, will be revealed on June 2 at 9 a.m. EDT.
We haven’t heard much about the expansions since they were initially announced, revealing new Legendary Pokémon, as well as new Galarian Pokémon forms. Over 100 Pokémon that weren’t included in the Galar region Pokédex will also be added to the game in each update. This won’t give a National Pokédex to the Galar region, but this should bring the total of included Pokémon to at least 600 — which is around 300 creatures off from being complete.
While we can’t confirm what will be in tomorrow’s reveal, we can likely expect information on some of the mysterious Pokémon we saw in the initial trailers, such as the Articuno-like Pokémon shooting lasers from its eyes, or the Regi-like Pokémon with dragon heads for arms.
The Isle of Armor expansion was originally slated to release at the end of June 2020, but it’s unknown if this date will be pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Crown Tundra expansion is slated for release in fall 2020. Both expansions come in a pack for $29.99.

[h=1]Pokémon Sword and Shield expansion launching June 17[/h]

The Isle of Armor will include new Galarian Pokémon

Pokémon Sword and Shield expansion The Isle of Armor will be released on June 17, The Pokémon Company announced Tuesday. The company said the second expansion, The Crown Tundra, will be released in fall 2020.
The Isle of Armor will take place in a new area of the Galar region, aptly called the Isle of Armor. It’s got a new storyline and gym for players to complete, but the update also brings newly discovered Galarian forms of Pokémon and fills out the Pokédex. Some of the new additions were shown off in a video posted to YouTube on Tuesday morning: Exeggutor, Tauros, and Poliwag, among plenty more.
Galarian forms were revealed for Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Slowbro. Blaistoise and Venusaur’s new Gigantamax forms — the super large battle forms — were shown, too. New Legendary Pokémon are also coming alongside the Galarian forms of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres: Regieleki, an electric-type monster, and Regidrago, a Dragon Orb Pokémon. (All of these, though, look to be part of The Crown Tundra.)
Kubfu and Urshifu, though, are coming with The Isle of Armor. Urshifu has two forms — single strike and rapid strike, each with its own moves and G-Max moves. “A Single Strike Style Urshifu that has followed the path of darkness can unleash a single, severe blow — a signature move known as Wicked Blow,” The Pokémon Company said. “This move always results in a critical hit, allowing Urshifu to attack while ignoring the target’s stat changes. A Rapid Strike Style Urshifu that has followed the path of water can unleash a flowing three-hit combo—a signature move known as Surging Strikes. This move always results in critical hits, allowing Urshifu to attack while ignoring the target’s stat changes.”
Alongside the new Pokémon, there will be new features added in with The Isle of Armor. Here are the details, straight from the developer:
Cram-o-matic — The dojo on the Isle of Armor houses a unique take on recycling in the form of a device called the Cram-o-matic. If players feed it four items, it will combine them and give out a new item in exchange. Trainers can receive any of a variety of items, including Poké Balls, PP Ups, and more. Some combinations might even produce rare items.
Tutor Moves — Completely new tutor moves will also be available on the Isle of Armor. Trainers can have their Pokémon learn them in exchange for Armorite Ore, a substance that can be found on the Isle of Armor through Max Raid Battles and other means. Burning Jealousy is a new Fire-type move that can be taught starting with these expansions. When it hits, it deals damage to all opposing Pokémon and burns all opposing Pokémon that have had their stats boosted during the turn. Grassy Glide is a new Grass-type move that can be taught starting with these expansions. This move has high priority when used on Grassy Terrain.
Max Soup — Max Soup is a special dish made from rare ingredients you can gather on the Isle of Armor. If a Pokémon with great hidden potential drinks Max Soup, it will become a special Pokémon capable of Gigantamaxing. Some Pokémon that Trainers are already traveling with may also gain the ability to Gigantamax.
The Pokémon Company also outlined a new transfer bonus beginning in Pokémon Home on June 2. Trainers that transfer a Pokémon from Pokémon Sword and Shield to Pokémon Home on the Nintendo Switch, they’ll get a Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble with their Hidden Abilities. These will be sent as Mystery Gifts.

[h=1]New Galarian Legendary Pokémon detailed for upcoming Sword and Shield expansion[/h]

Get a load of these guys

A new trailer for Pokémon: Sword and Shield’s expansions, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra, showed off some new Legendary Pokémon, Gigantamax forms, and Galarian forms of Pokémon.
While it wasn’t explained in the trailer, a press release broke down the types of names of the Pokémon we saw.

The other two Kanto starter Pokémon are getting Gigantamax forms, to match Charizards’. These will seemingly becoming available in The Isle of Armor, based on the trailer.
Gigantamax Venusaur gets G-Max Vine Lash over its grass-type moves, which deals damage for four more turns if the opponent isn’t a grass-type. Gigantamax Blastoise gets G-Max Cannonade over water-type moves, and it deals damage for four turns to non-water types.
[h=2]GALARIAN ARTICUNO, ZAPDOS, MOLTRES, AND SLOWBRO[/h]

Galarian Articuno is psychic/flying, with a signature psychic-type move called Freezing Glare. Galarian Zapdos is fighting/flying, and it’s signature move is fighting-type Thunderous Kick. Galarian Moltres is dark/flying and its signature move is Fiery Wrath, a dark-type. These three won’t appear until The Crown Tundra expansion releases.

Image: Game Freak/Nintendo, The Pokémon CompanyGalarian Slowbro is poison- and psychic-type. The Shellder that bites on Galarian Slowbro’s arm functions as a ... gun, shooting poison out at enemies.
[h=2]NEW LEGENDARY POKÉMON: REGIELEKI AND REGIDRAGO[/h]

Image: Game Freak/Nintendo, The Pokémon Company

These two are completely new Legendary Pokémon to be added to the “Regi” family in The Frozen Tundra. Regieleki is an electric-type with a special move called Thunder Cage and Regidrago is a dragon-type with a special move called Dragon Energy. They’re still a bit mysterious, so we’ll learn more about them when the DLC drops.
The Isle of Armor expansion releases on June 17 and The Frozen Tundra expansion will release in fall 2020.

Pokémon Sword and Shield DLC drops Wednesday, too

Pokémon Sword and Shield’s first expansion, Isle of Armor, will be released on Nintendo Switch Wednesday, but The Pokémon Company’s apparently got something else in store. On Tuesday morning, the company tweeted from the official Pokémon account that they’ve got Pokémon news to share — and they’ll share it on Wednesday morning. You can watch it here, in the YouTube embed above.
“We have Pokémon news,” it tweeted. “You want Pokémon news. Sounds to us like you should tune in tomorrow at 6 a.m. PDT for #PokemonPresents! What do you think, Trainers?”

Other that short message, details are scare. The tweet also included a link to the official Pokémon YouTube channel, where the Pokémon Presents stream will be broadcast Wednesday at 9 a.m. EDT/6 a.m. PDT.
Though it’s currently unclear what the stream will reveal, it’s notable that it’s the Isle of Armor launch day. It could be news about the first or second expansion, but there are other options, too. There’s been a lot of anticipation for Pokémon Sleep, which was announced last May. When it was announced, The Pokémon Company said it’ll be coming sometime in 2020, but there’s been little information on it since then.

[h=1]More Pokémon news coming next week, apparently[/h]

It’s a good month for Pokémon information

On Wednesday, The Pokémon Company dropped a whole bunch of things on us: New Pokémon Snap, Mega evolution in Pokémon Go, and a few other cute games and apps. Oh, and it’s also the release date for Pokémon Sword and Shield’s first expansion, Isle of Armor. But apparently, that’s not all The Pokémon Company has to share in June. More news is coming on June 24, the developer said.
“We know that’s a lot to take in, Trainers, but there’s still more to come!” the company tweeted from the official Pokémon account. “Keep your eyes out for more Pokémon news coming on June 24.”

It’s possible there will be more news about the Pokémon Sword and Shield expansion, The Crown Tundra, but fans are speculating about something else — remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

The Sinnoh region games are expected to be the next in the lineup, given the company’s previous timelines for remakes. Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were released in 2007 in the United States for Nintendo DS.
These rumors remain entirely unconfirmed

[h=1]Pokémon Sword and Shield Makes Shiny Zeraora Free To Download[/h]

Pokémon Sword & Shield players around the world completed the Max Raid Zeraora event, which means that they can now claim a free Shiny Zeraora.

It's now possible to claim a Shiny Zeraora in Pokémon Sword & Shield by downloading it through Pokémon Home. Game Freak kicked off the release of the Isle of Armor expansion with one of the hardest events in the series to date.
Zeraora is a Mythical Pokémon from Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon that could only be received through giveaways or trading with another player. In order for players to receive a Shiny Zeraora in Pokémon Sword & Shield, Game Freak required everyone to band together and defeat a million Zeraora in Max Raid Battles. Zeraora started appearing across the Wild Area in both the Galar region and the Isle of Armor, so that they could be fought in Pokémon Dens. This was an incredibly tough battle and players had to come up with strategies to defeat the Dynamax Zeraora as quickly as possible.

Pokémon trainers around the world completed the task set out for them by Game Freak, which means that everyone can now receive a Shiny Zeraora for free. In order to claim the Shiny Zeraora, the player needs to have access to Pokémon Home on mobile and to have moved a pokémon from the appinto Pokémon Sword & Shield from June 17 until July 6. Simply depositing a pokémon into Pokémon Home will also make the player viable for claiming the Shiny Zeraora. If this task has been completed, then the Shiny Zeraora can be downloaded into Pokémon Home from the Mystery Gift section of the app and then moved into Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield.

The Shiny Zeraora isn't the only freebie available, as it's also possible to claim eight pieces of Armorite Ore. The player can find the code for the Armorite Ore in the Mystery Gift section of Pokémon Home, but this code needs to be inputted into the Mystery Gift menu in Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield in order for the items to appear in-game. Armorite Ore is a useful item, as it can be traded to one of the Move Tutors in the Isle of Armor, in order for Pokémon to learn new attacks.
The giant Zeraora that plagued the Wild Area in the Galar region turned out to be formidable foes, but Pokémon fans around the world banded together and managed to defeat over a million of the DeviantArt rejects, just so that they could claim one of their own. Those who endured one of Zeraora's Max Lightning attacks can now nab the pokémon and banish it to the depths of the Box forever, where it belongs.

Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Crown Tundra DLC launching in October

A new icy area

Dragonite and trainer

Pokémon Sword and Shield’s next expansion, The Crown Tundra, will be released on Oct. 22, The Pokémon Company announced Tuesday. The news came during a video broadcast on the official Pokémon YouTube channel.

Pokémon Sword and Shield was originally released in November 2019, with the first expansion, The Isle of Armor, added in June. The Crown Tundra was announced alongside the first expansion, but The Pokémon Company has been quiet on the release details — though it was always expected for fall 2020. The Crown Tundra is expected to add a “snow-swept realm” called Crown Tundra to the game. A new mentor, Peony, will choose you to lead an exploration team heading into the Crown Tundra to check out the mysteries of the land.

During the presentation, The Pokémon Company outlined The Crown Tundra and its story, but also revealed that players will be able to catch all Legendary Pokémon from past mainline games in the new Dynamax Adevntures raids. The Pokémon Company also announced another addition to The Crown Tundra, the Galarian Star Tournament, where players can team up and take on the region’s elite trainers.

We had known some vague additions: More Pokémon — ones not within the game’s original Pokédex — will be available to catch in Max Raid Battles, like older Legendaries. We also knew there would be a co-op mode for exploring raid dens. Now we know the full extent of those additions.

Alongside those older Legendary Pokémon, The Pokémon Company also originally announced new Legendary creatures, three of which look like Galarian forms of Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos, as well as a rabbit with a big brain.

Like Isle of Armor, The Crown Tundra is part of Pokémon Sword and Shield’s $29.99 expansion pass.

How to catch Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres in Pokémon Sword and Shield

You’ll have to find them scattered around the Galar region

Three Galarian Legendary birds stare at a trainer on her phone

Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Crown Tundra expansion brings back Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres with a Galarian twist.

The three Legendary birds return to the series with Galarian forms and new typings.

To catch the birds, you’ll need to head south from the Giant’s Bed to the large glowing tree in Dyna Tree Hill. Once you approach the tree, the three birds will arrive and begin to fight among themselves. They’ll notice you standing there and all fly off to different areas for you to find and catch.

All the birds will be level 70 when you encounter them. They’ll also be able to be spotted from afar. While normally Pokémon only load in once you approach the area, you’ll be able to see the birds from quite far away.

All three of the initial areas you find the birds in will be static, so we recommend saving before you take them on. As Legendary Pokémon, they can be tricky to catch and you won’t want to have to hunt them down repeatedly if things go wrong.

WHERE TO FIND GALARIAN ARTICUNO
A Galarian Articuno splits into three to try to trick a Pokémon trainer
Image: Nintendo/Gamefreak, The Pokémon Company via Polygon
Galarian Articuno will roam around the Wild Area in the Crown Tundra. It’ll be sitting on a cliff in Snowslide Slope. Once you get close, it’ll split into three and you’ll have to pick the correct bird in order to battle it. The correct bird will have a tail animation that is slightly different from the other two.

If you pick the wrong bird, it’ll fly away, so we really recommend saving before this encounter so you can keep retrying if the bird ends up flying off.

WHERE TO FIND GALARIAN ZAPDOS
Galarian Zapdos sits and waits for a trainer to approach it
Image: Nintendo/Gamefreak, The Pokémon Company via Polygon
Galarian Zapdos will be seen sprinting around the main Galar region Wild Area. If you fly to the Meetup Spot in the Wild Area, you should be able to spot it before it sprints off. After following it for a bit, it will eventually stop and face you in a battle.

WHERE TO FIND GALARIAN MOLTRES
Galarian Moltres gets ready to swoop down on an unsuspecting trainer
Image: Nintendo/Gamefreak, The Pokémon Company via Polygon
Galarian Moltres will be seen flying around the Wild Area on the Isle of Armor. It’ll be visible flying above the ocean by the train station. It’ll loop around to in front of the dojo, so you should be able to intercept the bird there. If you get ahead of it, it’ll swoop down and attack you, initiating battle.
