Those sound like cut-scenes and/or scripted segments. Not at all described as animation priority.
The execution of it feels weird because I am already half way down a tunnel, then the AI partner who is supposed to be with me (but is 20 meters behind) catches up and the game takes control away from it. I may not have used the right term for it, but it is a very jarring experience.




If you thought control being taken away from the player in this game was annoying, wait till you play KH3 :p

I'll be honest, at this moment I have 0% interest in playing that game.

Well color me impressed but after the initial mediocre DLSS showings in titles that support it, this update is pretty amazing. I'm not noticing the usual blur, noisy and ghosting artifacts associated with similar techniques and above all, that 20fps performance gain is massive making 60fps and above attainable at higher resolutions. And 4A Games needs to share their custom TAA implementation with all developers at GDC. Good stuff.

I'm out of filters and don't have enough crafting material. Even dismantling the 1 med kit I have won't be enough. Had to sprint the fuck out of the radiation zone and barely made it out to the boat before the filter ran out all the while trying to avoid the shrimps. This game is stressing me out... lol

The atmosphere, asset quality and amount of detail packed in the levels is unparalleled.

Also is it me or there are some very low res textures in some places in this game? Sticks out like a sore thumb. Or maybe only I'm getting this problem. Running fitgirl repack with a GTX 1060.

^ I think that's just how the game is maybe, look at the walls and table in the last pic Necro sent, very low resolution looking assets. It's understandable as far as optimization goes, not every texture will be pristine.

Also 21 : 9 continues to look unnatural to my eyes :p

GTX 1070, Ultra, HairWorks, Tesellation, PhysX all ON.

There are some lower res textures here and there if you walk upclose to the objects but given the open nature of the levels and asset density the texture work is top-notch.

21:9 will always look unnatural on a 16:9 screen lol

wow the RTX support in this game is amazing! love the way how it enhances the atmosphere.for me, night runs are hands down BEST way to play/ experience this game. becoming a stealthy hunter in the moon light never gets old.

that said, i m getting a lot more than usual glitches in this game. sure previous metro games were a bit glitchy too but here i can easily spot one. for starters the VO is almost always overlapping and broken in groups. the human enemy AI often gets glitchy too i.e walking in air, spotting behind walls etc. for a game thats all about visuals, there are surprising amount of low quality textures mixed in the environment. atleast the performance holds up and i get 60FPS rock solid

Yep. Surprisingly disappointing from this studio. The last 2 Metro games were really stable launches.

Also, I think the voice acting issue might not happen if you use the Russian VA because of the animations being synced to the Russian lines. The English dialogues and animation sync probably wasn't factored in. This game has a lot more NPC's and dialogues compared to the last 2 games so they probably didn't run into this issue before.

VO issues were not so prevalent in previous games so its not justified here. their localization team should fix that.

its still not too late. a hefty post game patch could fix all these issues. i do plan on buying it on steam eventually.

Already mentioned the dialogue mixing issues, primarily on the Aurora, that's my only real complaint from the game. Its nothing a patch can fix I think.

The game audio itself is excellent. Environmental sounds, guns, mutants, weather effects, everything is superb.

What does need to be fixed is the controller issues. The game just feels bad to the detriment of the overall experience. Playing on the mouse and keyboard at 60fps I feel its rock solid in terms of responsiveness and feedback. Yamantau level demonstrates how it basically plays like more technically accomplished and gritty version of Doom. Outside of that level, the kind of headshots I was able to pull off between the complex and dense geometry even surprised me. Usually games hitboxes don't allow for penetrating bullets between geometry and you often encounter bullets hitting invisible walls. Wasn't the case here.

VO issues were not so prevalent in previous games so its not justified here. their localization team should fix that.

its still not too late. a hefty post game patch could fix all these issues. i do plan on buying it on steam eventually.

you won't be able to do that at least until Feb 2020.

I haven't played the game yet since beating the story a few days back. Can't comment at the moment sorry.

Got the "bad" ending.

I was late in reaching the prisoner tied up in Taiga and he died and missed a side quest for the kid I think. Alyosha gets injured.


Fitting end to the trilogy. Easily the best Metro game yet, and the best survival game I've played in a long time.

Oh I never knew the game had more than 1 ending. Is it like Dishonored where the ending is focused on your kills or is the ending based on your choices ? Also what was your playtime ?

Based on kills and some side quests. Much like the previous games.
My playtime was 33hours. I was playing on Hardcore difficulty. I think 25hours+ can be expected if you are not rushing it.

Awesome. That must mean you're a bigger "fan" than I am.
