Guys I got My TPLink WD-8970 V1 (its Version 1) to openwrt. now the problem is that dsl light is up(solid) but it will not acquire IP.... I did all the setting tried both on PPPoE and PPPoA but wont work... any idea how to configure it.
By the way my VPI/VCI are 8/81 which means im on fiber. Also any idea how to configure smart TV settings.

Try posting on both the LEDE and OpenWRT forums. The merge between the two is happening so for the time being some stuff is divided between the two while some stuff has been more streamlined.

Do mention which version of OpenWRT you're on.
You may need to set up some additional stuff or perhaps even update to the newest build because MODEM/ROUTER combo support wasn't added that long ago and It will have some issues here and there.

I'd help more but I don't have any experience with OpenWRT on a modem/router combo. I'm currently using LEDE 17.01.4 on my tp-link 841n v9 (Custom build with OPKG removed and IPV6 partially removed and SQM and UPNP added)

After a little research. It seems that only lantiq chipset devices have dsl support for opensource drives (lucky you). but, due to an agreement, the devs can't/didn't post a documentation on the topic of setting it up.

First, Lemme ask a few questions. Can you post multiple screenshots of the status page with the dsl stats and all? the interface page? and also the wan interface pages?

Reading a couple of forums posts real quicks makes me think that to edit the vpi/vci values and stuff and to add the settings for your smart tv you'd need to ssh into the console and feed it the commands to do that.
No usage of the luci-interface there.

I can get you accustomed to ssh access and all that and help you any way I can but since I haven't owned a DSL modem with OpenWRT/LEDE flashed on it I can't really just point you where to go. I'd have to mess around with some stuff myself and I'd need a lot of info myself that isn't available on the wiki.

Hello!

In order to configure any 3rd party router for PTCL + SmartTV (Fiber), one needs to configure multiple PVCs:

Broadband:
PPPoE with LLC Encryption
VPI/VCI 8/81

SmartTV (Set-top Box):
Bridge
VPI/VCI 0/35 (do confirm because haven't used PTCL in a long time)

Need to enable Multicasting support by enabling IGMP Snooping
Isolate/Dedicate one LAN port for the Settop box (if using one) either via Interface Grouping or via the MAC address of the Settop box

If, however, one is using the OTP service, then, there is no need for such configuration as the App should work via the Broadband service!

When it comes to LEDE or OpenWRT, it shall depend upon the packages you have installed! Also, most of the guides are about VLANs and not about multi-pvc, so you need to ask around in the forums! One such discussion is available at Configuring IPTV on Seperate ATM Bridge - Network and Wireless Configuration - LEDE Project Forum

Hope this helps!

Regards,
Ahmed
