The lack of transparency on the navbar in most applications doesn't go well with the infinity of the display but I really like the hide navbar option included in the new update.
Anyhow I didn't know till now there's a dedicated thread for my new phone :D
Hiiii guys! I got a S8+ a few weeks back from Daraz with official warranty and accidental coverage for 84k. They had some special discount thing going on. Weirdly the Samsung outlet next to my place was still selling it for 97k :/
Upgraded from a S7 Edge.

Strangely enough, you can't set it pure black either. Infinity display doesn't mean it should always be hidden. It hides where it needs to and that's good enough.

Don't want it to hide, want it to be transparent.
Till the previous update you could set it to black however they changed the colors now I guess to avoid screen burn in.

I think it's not very easy and neither Samsung cares what few customers want (Apple never did). App development on Android is not as tightly regulated by guidelines as on iOS. The Android framework is mainly used for OS layer while UI is left to OEM. This is creating a big contrast among experiences on different smartphones. And the Elephant in the room is UI scaling which android has yet to address effectively.

App development requires consistency which unfortunately Android lacks unless an OEM leaves UI untouched (OnePlus, Google Pixel). The difficult task is to integrate hardware with software layer. If, for example we install AOSP ROM on S8, most of it's function will not work. Because the libraries required for proper usage of hardware are property of Samsung.

So with 18.5:9 aspect ratio, what you see is what you get. The screen ratio is unique to S8 and G6 which do not make a large part of android market, so App developers don't care. Unless they are on a big budget. It's up to Samsung to provide software tweaks for us to enjoy Apps not optimized for the display (They have already provided a fullscreen hack). The good news is Samsung has much better development pipeline now a days, may be hiring better designers which may be in future provide a more robust user experience.

This is to say in other words, S8 is too far ahead of current generation of Android hardware market.

PS: If Apple releases an iPhone with OLED display and better specs, I will switch in a blink because of quality of Apps, not the hardware. S8 however is purely an hardware experience, not a fan of android myself but it's good enough.

and Samsung is not Apple.
If they are going to keep working on making touchwiz better, they need to get rid of a fixed color navbar; its as ugly as a fixed color statusbar that used to exist on android. It should be transparent and adjust its color according to the app being used just like the statusbar does. Its a simple option that is available through apps that are non root and available on the playstore and it can easily be implemented by Samsung and they likely will. Its these little details that matter and which make a product a complete package.
They also need to work on their theme store at the moment cause its more or less a ghost town.

Getting Samsung theme store approval is the most difficult thing ever. They're a bit racist and usually choose Asians regardless of whether their themes look like dog shit, or they'll pick someone who has the most retarded looking theme ever and approve that.
Anyone with a genuine idea for a theme gets rejected immediately.

I tried applying, a guy on XDA designing a simple black theme tried applying, a bunch of people with pretty great ideas started applying and they all got rejected by Samsung. Their themes are available, in fact I'm using one that's not from the theme store, but getting it to stick is a bit of a hassle and it's quite annoying.

IShopping is selling 2 variants of S8. One with local warranty worth Rs 68k and one is around 76k with international warranty. Which one to get?

How long was the delivery time?

Deliveries from abroad usually take around 5-7 days to get here through FedEx or DHL.

That doesn't sound right.

Local warranty with accidental coverage is usually more expensive than the imports from abroad that have the so called international warranty.

Either way, entirely your choice, if you need warranty and that coverage shit, by all means, get it, otherwise save cash and get the imported one like I did.

The warranty that can be claimed locally is of iShopping itself. While the imported one which you are talking about (with international warranty) is more expensive :/ thatswhy Im going to visit their office instead of buying online. Both the variants are technically same though ie G950FD
