MULTI Nvidia announces the shield console

Nvidia announced a new addition to its Shield lineup of devices, an Android-based living room device capable of 4K playback and capture, during*its Game Developers Conference 2015 press event.

Specs: The set-top box and console hybrid packs a Tegra X1 processor, which sports a 256-bit Maxwell GPU with 3GB of memory.*Its body features a MicroSD slot, a Micro USB 2.0 port, two USB Type-A 3.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet port, and HDMI port.
The Nvidia Shield supports Android Bluetooth 4.1 and dual-band 801.11ac Wi-Fi connections, 7.1 and 5.1 surround sound over HDMI and an IR receiver.

The device will ship bundled with the Shield Controller*for USD$199 starting this May!

PS, with all those awesome game lined up for launch, could this thing be a giant killer? I mean at this price with such awesome specs, games etc and most importantly Android OS.
+ This device will definitely be able to play pirated games as it runs on Android [emoji14]

There is this cloud service announced by Nvidia, which will bring games to it! I have this feeling that this will be a super success, wont be a failure like OUYA.

I heard that some devs were paid by Nvidia to port their games to run on their Android based hardware native-ly? Like Crysis, Arkham Origins etc

So it is an On Live clone (in many ways) after all. Just as I thought. I don't see the idea picking up until dedicated games are developed/ported for the Android platform.

Edit: This is cool http://shield.nvidia.com/games/android The list of games isn't so bad after all. Plenty of well-known titles including Crysis 3, Half-Life 2, Metal Gear Rising and Borderlands
