Despite the fact that 2013 marks the dawn of next-generation of machines, PS4 and XBOX ONE respectively, none of them offer a launch title even remotely close to the big three video games released for the aging current generation machines, XBOX 360 & PS3.
BioShock Infinite, The Last of Us and of course Grand Theft Auto V have managed to make 2013 pretty memorable by themselves. All three of them have found universal acclaim and are dead set to contend for multiple Game of the Year awards.
Please note that this critique doesn't necessarily include other top notch 2013 video games like Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, Wii U, PS Vita, Nintendo 3DS or a PC exclusive, simply because I didn't get to play them :laugh1: nor do I intend to. This piece is only my humble opinion and it's objective is to spark a discussion among the PG community and may not be take as simple facts. Also, we all know the positive stuff about them but the focus of this thread is simple nitpicking the least liked features which are usually overlooked due to fanboyish hype (like GTA IV). Please note that this post contains MAJOR SPOILERS. Lets begin then.
BIOSHOCK INFINITE
THE LAST OF US
GRAND THEFT AUTO V
Let me know what you guys think. What would you like to see improved in the next iterations of the above franchises? No game is 100% perfect, so you know, nit picking can be kind of good sometimes instead of burying head in the sand.
p.s. First thread in a long time (tsuck)

BIOSHOCK INFINITE
- The shooting mechanic is just not fun. It wasn't that great in BioShock and it is even worse in Infinite. Say whatever you want to, no video game has replicated the perfection achieved in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. I know the guns are pre-1912 but still, Irrational Games simply failed to make weapons that are really fun to play with.
- Vigors are simply old Plasmids in a new bottle. It was a great opportunity for Irrational to come up with newer ideas for Plasmids/Vigors but they are almost identical in both games.
- Zachary Hale Comstock <<<<<< Andrew Ryan. Period.
- The extremely convoluted story is better than many stories out there but did they really have to make a super clever story that would go over the heads of 90% of gamers? BioShock's story was pretty deep and easier to grasp and far superior than Infinite.
- The final battle with the Vox Populi is disastrously frustrating.
THE LAST OF US
- The only real con I can think of is repetition in terms of gameplay only...until Ellie comes into action. The story, the characters, the environments, the enemies are all kept fresh throughout but till you reach the point when Joel really injures himself, things start to become stale in terms of gameplay. Same crouching, sneaking, stealth killing, running, gunning.
- Did The Last of Us really need a multiplayer? I know it got good reviews but still that effort could have gone to create more content in the Solo adventure.
GRAND THEFT AUTO V
- Unlike Red Dead Redemption's perfect final act, which doesn't end with a boss battle, GTA V goes with traditional GTA "big fight" ending, followed by loose ends (which was a nice touch). The real high point was the ultimate heist "The Big Score" and in my opinion, whereas "The Third Way" mission was simply traditional GTA final mission against a backdrop of generic foundry with lots and lots of shooting.
- There is a LOT of Lost Santos that Story or Strangers & Freaks don't cover. For example, why don't we get to fly a fighter jet?
