Ahhhh I never got around finishing NIOH but i loved the game mechanics of the first one. The sword play was immensely satisfying but it was let down by the boring lore/story and boss fights......

Yeah looks more worthy of a DLC/expansion than a sequel. Which isn't a good thing for me, since I thought the first game got boring real fast with its repetitive (and mediocre) level design and enemy encounters.

I also had issues with the game's lack of enemy variety and boring/unimaginative level design. These are areas where From Soft excels. That said, it wasn't a deal breaker for me, as the core combat in the original Nioh was excellent, and a step above anything From Soft has offered so far.

i got in too thanks to a member here

played the demo a bit it wouldn't let me record on the ps4 as it had restrictions since it was an alpha. did manage to get a ss of my dld only..

gameplay wise its good, i didnt played the first one. there is the fps stable mode and than there is a movie mode and than there isa mixture of both. i tried the fps mode and it was good. didn't seem to drop any fps's that much that i saw was smooth gameplay

anyways it felt a bit hard etc i tried killing the revenent but i got dead instead lol. i guess a bit of learning cuve is here. dodging and block is a must.

Full game due for early 2020 release

Nioh 2fans can prep for the action RPG’s demanding gameplay with a 10-day open beta beginning Nov. 1, PlayStation announced early this morning.
There still isn’t a concrete launch date for Team Ninja’s masocore follow-up, but a Nov. 1 to Nov. 10 public beta suggests that is right around the corner. The latest guidance was “early 2020” according to a trailer from Tokyo Game Show; January is typically a dead month for any new releases, and the first Niohlaunched the first week of February 2017.

The Nioh 2 trailer from Friday showed a new game, with a new player protagonist transforming into a yokai to take on those demons on their terms. Nioh 2’s main character will be left up to player choice (including gender and race), meaning the series’ first hero, William, either isn’t returning or is an NPC guest-star.
We’ll have more on Nioh 2 from Tokyo Game Show 2019 in the days to come.

Team Ninja’s additions give extra depth to an original game that was already an involved take on the soulsborne phenomenon, though the stages we’ve been shown to date are a little barren. (They’re filled with the kind of secret routes and hidden areas we’d expect from the likes of Diablo but are arguably not as stylised as those of Sekiro.)

Wait, as long as we're comparing an ARPG to an action-adventure game, shouldn't DMC V have the crown? :lol:

Played the beta a couple of days ago and as expected it feels and plays entirely like the first game. I also just started the first game again yesterday since its on PS PLUS. I think the comparison between Sekiro and Nioh is justified since both are more similar to each other than the usual genre-defined differences. But in all honesty, having played Nioh after finishing Sekiro, I dont think Nioh holds a candle infront of the superb game that Sekiro is. I mean Sekiro is just hands down fanfuckingtastic...... And its that Nioh is bad, its just that after playing a FromSoft game you realize how much other games lack in terms of both Map and enemy designs.....

Yeah, it was great. After I beat all the missions I Torii Gated for a few days. Great way to level up and a good way to see other weapons/skills/omyo in action. I was level 62 when I stopped.

Errr I didn't even get the game lol. The beta felt like a Nioh 1.5 rather than a proper sequel.

sekiro and this are different i think, nioh is rpg style and sekiro is more action type. i have yet to play sekiro and no plans for nioh as i tried its beta and it wasn't my style
