Need suggestions for a laptop

Hi Guys,
I want to buy a laptop in next few days, and I want your suggestions about it, I have a budget of 400-420 pounds, right now I have chosen the following laptop which fits within my budget:

Acer Aspire 5710

If you know any other better laptop in that price range then please let me know, I have only 2 days to reply to my father who is coming to Pakistan from UK about the laptop choice.

My father told me that Acer, HP and Fujitsu Siemens are sort of popular brands in UK (as they are not that much expensive as compared to Sony, Dell and Lenovo)

HP is a nice brand , your choice is great too but it would be better if you check reviews and forums (for identifying problems)

anyway if u want for studies then buy any laptop... but u won't be able to watch high definition movies on it get atleast GMA3000

yaar, I have a limited budget as I posted in my 1st post, so suggest me a good brand/type in that price range which can gives the complete value for my money..

I will not use it for gaming that's for sure, and HD movies is not my concern I am all good if it can play HD-Rip porn (yeah comes handy in summer season)

Yea inferno the specs are good for studies and stuff . The only concern that i can understand would be battery time . As for brands Acer is a nice lappy brand but HP is usually considered superior . maybe you can check for equivalent HP offers ?

HP , Acer , and Compaq r all good brands , and they r also quite cheap compared to sony, toshiba.

Just see wat is the battery life of ur laptop. that might be ur only concern becoz u r not interested in gamez.

I suggest u to buy DELL. ( becoz its service centre is here in karachi)
