Hi, i am an A'level student. I will be appearing for NET-1(this December). I want to apply for BSCS or BSSE.
I am preparing from Punjab board books and i do have ECAT past papers. However, I am having problem with test preparation. The thing is that i don't know what to study because there is no syllabus for the NET.
I know that the NET consists of 200 marks but i don't know how much should i achieve in order to secure admission.
My friends have insisted that I should join a test preparation center, IBAgrads to be precise. So is it wise to join?
I will appreciate any help.

1. why waste time dumbed down Fsc. books when you have done a-levels and assuming you have done it from a decent school, you concepts must be good enough. If not then sharpen them. Ecat past papers will probably not help you preparing for NET. Why not take SAT 2 exams and score 2200+? (it is pretty easy to score 2200+ in NET2 considering a strong alevels base)? Moreover they don't explicitly state the syllabus however it is good to see some logical patterns an entrance tests might contain... 1. No long questions or complex questions or questions with a detailed conceptual answer 2. Almost all questions of physics and maths being numerical based 3. Well english includes the usual vocabulary, few comprehension questions etc. The only stuff worth learning from fsc books are those tidbits and values in sidebars which you might consider cramming.

Morever, there is this site Entry Test Preparation where you will find almost everything related to nust entrance test from success stories to test guidance to syllabus (yes there is a definite pattern of syllabus, chapters mentioned, the chapters mentioned are from fsc book however you can compare and see if they are any different from your A-levels syllabus and then "LEARN" only those things which were not in your syllabus before). Hope it helps

Well I'd presume that about SAT 2 even for an Fsc student (Im was an Fsc. student myself), the topics are very much similar to highschool studies, I have taken several practice tests too btw...It is quite easy

Most of my classfellow give SAT(1+2) as well as entrance exam. They hardly scored well in SAT1 (around 1700) but in SAT2 with proper dedication and hardwork,a lot of my friends scored (2200+,one scored 2390 and other scored 2370 ) .What I'm telling you is something that might give you an idea .Most of these friends appeared for NET and PIEAS entrance test and also submitted their score. Now ,one of my friend got offered a seat in PIEAS due to his SAT2 score while nothing from entrance exam.So ,go to collegeboard website, try some sample past papers and if you think you can give a good score then go ahead and study real hard but also give NET as it increases your chances.

The reason why most people think A'level students find SAT2 easier is because of MCQ bit but I think it's because A'level students do not have sufficient time to study for NET.Most of my friends appeared for the NET that took place in end of June so they only had a month to study everything from Fsc books as a result they didn't do that well .
