Dear brothers,

Assalamoalaikum,

As you may remember, during Ramadan I posted a thread that I would be buying a Sandy Bridge Core i7 PC before Eid and you gave me your precious advices and guidance. I remain thankful to you for that. As for my buying PC it has delayed for some reason and inshallah near the end of this month I would buy it. I think the delay may be good as I could have more advices and guidance from you. I hope you will help me. At the moment I am stuck in the LCD or LED display. I am confused and unable to decide which one to buy. I have read about the following models:

1- Dell ST2420L 24” LED (The reviews for this are not good)
2- Samsung S24A350H 24” LED (It does not have DVI. Is that imortant)

I could not find any 24" Viewsonic monitor at Galaxy or Czone websites. Brothers, my budget is around 25 thousand for LCD/LED monitor. I require a monitor which gives a crisp and clear picture and is 1080p. Which has backlight. Also whose quality is good. So please guide me which monitor would be the best.

Also I have read somewhere that LED monitors cause problems. Is that true? Please guide me should i buy LCD or LED monitor. Also if there are other online shops beside Galaxy or Czone which deal in LCD/LED monitors please inform. I am thankful to you.(thx)

first of all, there is no big difference between them. the real LED is the one which u see on road tv's.
that one is true LED, light emitting diode. if u want the hdtv for gaming then go for panasonic plasma tv.
but they dont make sets under 26".

Thanks brothers for your information. I dont mind buying a 23" monitor as long as it is good. In my earlier thread some brothers told me to go for Samsung for LCD/LED monitors. Anyway please inform me how are these two monitors Dell st 2420L and HP 2311f. Also brothers you did not clarify me about the following points:

1- Do LED monitors cause problems or function without any problem?

2- If a monitor does not have DVI should I not buy it? What is DVI? Is that very important?

3- What is backlight? Which LED monitors have it?

4- Please inform me which other online shops beside Galaxy or Czone deal in LCD/LED monitors?

Sorry for so many questions but I hope you would help me. Thanks

All LEDs have backlight.

I personally have a st2420L and its pretty awesome. I've took a demo of it side by side with Samsung ST24a350. But the thing to go for is BX series. However when i went to buy it it was out of stock. -.-

My priorities would be :

Samsung BX series
Dell
Hp
Samsung st24a350

Both of these are satisfactory for home usage. Of-course, their would be always something better available in the market but it all depends upon the budget of the potential buyer.

Also brothers you did not clarify me about the following points:
No problem.

1- Do LED monitors cause problems or function without any problem?
In what sense? LED display devices are better then standard LCD display devices. They consume less power and produce better image quality with respect to comparable standard LCD.

2- If a monitor does not have DVI should I not buy it? What is DVI? Is that very important?
It depends upon your needs. In current times, most display devices are DVI capable. The benefit of DVI is that it supports uncompressed video signals and output is better then what is possible through standard VGA.

3- What is backlight? Which LED monitors have it?
LED is a type of backlight technology.

Basic concept is like this:

Backlights are used for electronic devices with flat panel displays that require illumination from the back and includes devices as small as hand held PCs or as large as big screen TVs. A typical backlight consist of a light source such as a Cold Cathode Fluorescent (CCFL) or Light Emitting Diodes (LED) and a rectangular light guide, which is also referred to as light pipe.

4- Please inform me which other online shops beside Galaxy or Czone deal in LCD/LED monitors?
I can arrange brand new sealed pack DELL ST2420L LED for you (Lahore only). If you are interested let me know.

Otherwise, check the market.

Sorry for so many questions but I hope you would help me. Thanks
No problem.
