Hey guys, need suggestions for a GPU.

Budget: 8000rs (Can be managed upto 10,000rs)
Motherboard: Intel DG43NB (PCIe 2.0)
Previous GPU: Nvidia 9600GSO (PCIe 2.0)
Known Issue: Gpu Heating problem resulting in it getting fried.
(GPU Autopsy revealed grit covering the GPU cores XS)
PSU: Cooler Master 500MW

What i want in a gpu:
-Wont Overclock so dont need Overclocking feature.
-Able to support games that have released (atleast) 2 years after a new tech has been introduced. (normally, every gpu can do that)
-Must have good performance

Here's what i have in mind but am open to suggestions.
Nvidia GTS430 (EVGA) = 8500rs
http://www.evga.com/products/moreInfo.asp?pn=01G-P3-1430-LR&family=GeForce%20400%20Series%20Family&sw=

Nvidia 9800GT (EVGA) = 9500rs
http://www.evga.com/products/moreInfo.asp?pn=512-P3-N987-TR&family=GeForce 9 Series Family&sw=

ATI HD5670 (HIS) = 9500rs
http://www.hisdigital.com/un/product2-571.shtml

Friends are suggesting i get ATI 5670 coz of better performance but it's a PCIe 2.1 GPU and i dont want to risk getting a GPU that will someday fry coz of Bottlenecked Performance on a PCIe 2.0 Slot.

5670 is almost as good as 9800GT, but good thing is that it takes almost half the power and does not heat up as much as 9800GT.

you should check out GTS 250
In terms of pure performance GTS250 is the clear winner but it doesn't have dx11 and it draws more power than HD5670. if you care about performance and have good power supply (450w, 12v rated at 24A) you can go for GTS250. if you interested in DX11 stuff maybe you can go for HD5670. but if you really after DX11 i think you should get at least HD5750 or HD5770. You can get this around Rs 9,500 from Iamextreme.net ..
Or if you can extend you budget a bit ....get GTS 450 OC for around 12 K ..you ll get dx 11 + oc performance..

In my view gts 250 is good for you because first of all hd5670 is not enough to play all dx11 games at good setting and in dx10 games gts250 will perform better and you will also get physx with it. and in future if you plan to upgrade to high end system then you can use your gts 250 as physx processing unit while 5670 will be of no use

@Jadefox
I dont intend on Overclocking my gpu.
I have a 500MW Cooler Master PSU btw (Updated first post)

GTS250:

HD5670 is more powerful than GTS250 bro.Plus, ill have to overclock GTS250 to get to the performance offered by HD5670.

Btw,it isnt necessary that i'll play games in DX11.It's that i intend to use this gpu as long as it can work and/or loses support for new games.

Brother GTS 250 is faster than 5670 by decent margin....you dont have to overclock it ..
Here is a hierarchy chart see for your self

and talking about new games and 5670 your card wont perform well with new games ....

Im confused here.

  • Processor CoresGTS 250
  • Graphics Clock (MHz)675
  • Processor Clock (MHz)1736Mhz
  • Memory Clock (MHz)2000Mhz
  • Memory Amount512Mb / 1Gb GDDR3
  • Memory Interface 256-bit
  • Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec)47.2
  • Texture Fill Rate (billion/sec) 54
HD5670
GPU 5670 Core Clock 775 MHz Memory Clock 3800 MHz Memory Size 512 MB Memory Type GDDR5 Memory Interface 128 bit Interface 512
GTS430
Performance
NVIDIA GT 430
700 MHz GPU
96 Processing Cores
400 MHz RAMDAC
Memory
1024 MB, 128 bit DDR3
1400 MHz (effective)
22.4 GB/s Memory Bandwidth

How is GT250 still better when the others r more powerful? :/

Nah,the only used gpu i bought fried. So a second-hand gpu is out of the question.

Well,it's down to GTS250 and HD5670 (GTS430 excluded for low performance compared to the new entry)
