Assalam O Alaikum

I am planning to buy a Zong 4g Bolt+ device. I checked on Zong's website and they are selling it for 2350 Rupees while on OLX some guys are selling it for as low as 1100 PKR claiming it is brand new, comes with 1 year warranty and he will even take thumb impression to get the device verified.

My questions is: should I buy from OLX considering the difference is almost 1200 PKR.

Doesn't really matter where you get the device from.

Meet the seller in person, confirm the device is brand new, take it to Zong, complete biometric verification and be on your way.

Thanks for your reply brother. My concern is how they are selling for such low price? Could they be selling used devices packed as new and actually without warranty? Taking the device to Zong is necessary for verification? Because the seller said he will verify at my door step?

Just make sure he has a legit shop or its done officially through Zong. With the state of affairs these days about phishing, hacking and what not abroad and newly in Pakistan, the last thing you want is to give a thumb impression to some shady guy.

These small retailers are also selling these devices, here in Bahria there is a vegetable shop that sells Zong and Telenor 4G devices and he has a biometric machine as well.

If you don't feel comfortable getting the device verified by a 3rd party seller, you can purchase the device and go directly to Zong instead.

Just talked with one of those sellers. I asked him if he could provide his NIC and he agreed. So I think there's nothing fishy? Also, he said he has verification device and I can call the center right away to confirm if the device is activated or not.

Do it at your own risk, I'd still suggest taking the device to a Zong franchise or office and doing it there.

They are able to sell it cheaper because they get them cheaper from zong or they get an ongoing commission from the broadband package you subscribe to. It's like how buying tickets directly from the airline used to cost more than going through a travel agent.

I bought one recently for a friend for 2200 from Multan unlocked and brand new, sim was activated in his name so I dont see any harm in that.

The device vendor comes later man, I just want to make sure I am not getting robbed of something that I am not aware of.

I still highly doubt it man but call him and ask and dont go to any shabby area, generally here in Punjab these devices are available for 2200pkr range, or you can just buy the device and get sim activated from franchise but do get the sim as zong has different sims for device (mbb sim) and internet sim.

Until unlocked internet/voice sim dosnt work on these new zong devices.

Thank you, brother, for your opinion and replying. My gut says that he could be a fair person, but the majority of the people here and one of my cousin who used to own a mobile shop said to be careful with the thumb impression because of the price difference.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
