I wanted to buy a new laptop, but I can't decide which one to buy. a slight gaming ..

dv6 have nice looks although a bit high in price then probook persinally i prefer probook as am using probook its a awwesom machine with a good backup time if you have money then go for dv6 cause it have a nice looks otherwise probook is great but dont go for inspiron the body of inspiron is of cheap plastic

DV6 might have looks but performance is disappointing. Inspiron is good. I don't know about Lenovo. Probook also has below average performance like all HP laptops. HP focuses more on looks than they do on performance and speed.

I can't figure out how you assume that similarly spec'ed hp's run slower than dell's?
I'd be interested in reading any articles or benchmarks that you could show me to back this claim up.

The only thing that HP could do is be less aggressive on the cooling hardware to create better looks which would cause the cpu/gpu to throttle... but again, I'd like to see something that backs your statement.

I have a dv4, i5 with a ATI 6750 gpu and this laptop is running awesome so far... Granted that I put in a ssd but it puts my desktop to shame in most things... and the 6750 is awesome for minimal gaming... so yeah, I checked out the Dells and they look like crap and have the same specs.

Look like crap? How do you know they are crap just by looking at the specs? HP Fanboy. Dell is 10 times better than HP. I have never seen a single Dell in my house with a problem. I've gotten a motherboard problem with my sisters ProBook 4520S Core i3 and my dad's G6 1332TX had a cooling fan problem. No issues at all with Dell.

god, Murtaza... I hope you're being paid to promote Dell because otherwise this kind of blind dedication is disturbing... My first two laptops were Dells but I'm actually a Thinkpad fanboy... I said 'look like crap' because I saw what they looked like and it was like, wait a minute, CRAP... Nonetheless, we all have our own preferences and lets let the OP buy his laptop without making this thread about you and me... I do concede that my Dells never failed me, but then, neither did my Compaq or this HP [fingers crossed]...

I used to hate Dell as well. But my last laptop changed that thought (Dell Inspiron 1545). It was the best laptop ever. It never failed me once. I've got the new N5110 now and it's great. Performance is excellent. Wish I had gotten the 17" one though. HP like I said focuses more on looks which is why you thought Dell looked like crap and HP was a slab of gold in front of your eyes. I also owned a ThinkPad once and IT WAS CRAP. It crashed on me a few years back and now it doesn't even power on. I owned an HP once. Damn that was crappy. It was a Pavilion DV-6000. Running Vista. It didn't boot up properly one day and it told me to recover some crap files. I did that and the laptop would get stuck on a black screen with the mouse. Nothing else. I installed Windows 7 on it and the damn thing just became too slow.

Dell laptops are tough as compared to HP.

Hp laptops are better in cooling wise.
They don't get heat up too much while Dell heats up a lot. Currently using Dell N5110.

Other then that, Dell is awesome. Didn't face any problem till now.
You will get i7 so that will be much much better as I have i5.

Well, you won't find any laptop flawless
They leave something so that they can upgrade it in their next model

Don't think about it too much. Dell and Hp PROBOOK, both are good.
I won't recommend Lenovo.

6490M is slightly better GPU than 525M..
so get the one with this card..
